Well Massa stayed within 5 secs of Alonso at Monaco by the end of the race, but Webber kind of held the pack up a bit. I'm sure Alonso would have been quite a bit further ahead if they were running 1-2.
And as for Canada, sure Massa was decent in qualifying, but he was 0.3s slower and was pretty average in the race. Alonso could have won whereas he struggled home to 10th, which would have been further back if Maldonado and Schumacher didn't have problems in qualy.
So I don't really think Massa is over his woes really. He's still off the pace. Maybe a few more races qualifying closer to Alonso might get the media off his arse.
Re Button, my guess is he'll eventually sort the issues and return to form. He was fine in the opener!

Button said that they weren't, and I guess he would know.

I think he will do just that, and maybe he's not too far behind to count himself out of the running.

Buttons problem appears to be that he cant set the car up how he needs it.

A combination of things are making Jenson look bad. His inability to setup the 2012 car and the tightness of the field, allied to a return of the old Lewis Hamilton.
It is 2010 all over again except a bad day means 16th or wherever he was in Canada (I literally have no idea) rather than 5th or 6th as it was a couple of years ago.
It is almost as amusing as watching the Irish in Euro 2012.
Lewis has got his head down and worked through his problems and it will be interesting to see if Jenson can learn from his illustrious teammate.

Reverse the names and you have the 2011 season.

Sure sounds like it to me, wnut. Comes off as a bit like: "We were right, essentially, except that we were also a little bit wrong which caused the car to be a lot slow."
A classic exercise in CYA.

Button fastest in P3, which bodes well for qualifying.

It's probably a combination of minor factors, multiplied by the closeness of the field this year. Struggling to find the right setup quickly enough, a high amount of operational errors from McLaren, misreading the tyres and how to manage them (which is very un-Jenson-like when compared to 2011), Lewis being right back on form (driver of the year so far IMHO), and the fact that Lewis is fundamentally faster when he's on song mentally.
His place in the team must realistically be under threat if this doesn't turn around soon, although I can't see them letting him go if Lewis leaves. There are great young talents around who Jenson would be well-suited to nurturing, but they all seem to have ties to other manufacturers. di Resta or Hulkenberg could easily be snapped up by Mercedes if they do shine.
