Yep, going back again!! I only went to the first Classic.
Going with Truckosaurus and a few others (non-tententhers).
Plus taking our eldest, so it will be interesting to see how he gets on with La Sarthe. He's been to the Britcar 24hrs, but that's only down the road for us...

We should be in MB just after lunch on Thursday, might see you there or perhaps at the smaller ten=tenths meet on saturday at 12.00, truckosaurus knows the place and both Eric (batmobile) and me so if you can make it see you there

Does anyone here happen to have an extra paddock pass they'd like to sell?
Already pestered the racers on Historic forum but no luck!
I'm attending on Friday.
Thanks! - Earl

Well sorted all the camping gear out again, only been in the loft 2 weeks and sorted out enough cloths for the dubious weather they are predicting for the classic, it will be a squeeze getting everything in the stag but as there are only two of us we can put heavy stuff on the back seat (roof will be down unless it rains hard) will arrive tomorrow afternoon and hope to see a few familiar faces down there, meeting Eric and who ever else turns up on saturday at the usual meeting place in the village at 12.00 so anyone else who fancies a chat and a glass or two please come along.

Sadly, I just cannot be there this year.
Should you see a lady 'of a certain age' with a Maserati Merak, with the reg no. MER4K, say "Hi Ange!" for me please!

It would appear as if Motors TV is gonna provide some live coverage of each day's running! They've really upped their game this year, haven't they. See the listings:
Friday 10PM (95 min)
Saturday 10PM (95min)
Sunday 4PM (95min)
Also highlights show later
However, unlike in 2010, Radio Le Mans won't be covering this year's event

No nissans on the starting grid?
Will any other TV station show the event?

Hehe
Seriously speaking, regarding to the absence of RLM, here are some direct quotes:

Also, there will be no other TV coverage [that I know of], but then again this is Le Mans Classic, a historic event for enthuastics and thus it is not too suprising that it never gets any proper coverage or attention. That's why this sudden burst of some (allegedly) live broadcasting on Motors is fantastic!
I guess there might or might not also be a highlight package of some sort on Skysport or something later on but people on the other side of the pond shouldn't be too hopeful

Motors TV coverage of the LM Classic is dire, absolutely appalling. Interview after interview with no reporting of what is happening on the track. Alain De Cadenent doesn't even know who he's interviewing and looks like a rabbit caught in headlights.
It was bad two years ago but this is even worse. Talk about amateur night....
and now, as I type, picture and sound have been lost.

From what I gather the coverage was a talk-show or a round table discussion with a few, brief shots of the action as an afterthought. Whatever it was it wasn't coverage of a race meeting more of a fan-forum done on a shoe string.

Now then. Apologies for not making the Saturday lunchtime meetup, we took one look at the RobDog prices in the circuit food concession stands on Friday that we all went into the city for Saturday lunch at the Legends Café.
Otherwise it was a great event. I'm done my back in since returning from the 24hrs, so walking about hurts like hell, so I didn't get to wander about as much as I would have liked.
It was remarked within our group that the campsite was how we remembered the 24hrs camping was like back in the '90s when we first attended, loads of sportscars and classics.
Also, we left around 1pm yesterday (after the final Grid-6 race) so got home at a decent hour which makes today a viable workday without being over-tired.
Definitely want to go back in 2014.
