dummy formule renault

How doe you people feel about buying a dummy formula car,
The guy who sels it tells me he bought everything with it to make it a racer. For the moment no engine and gearbox, his plan was to put a bike engine in the car.

What chassis is it? Is a Formula Renault, F3, Jedi or something else? That'll make a big difference as to the viability of buying and running it - don't forget that you'll need to factor in cost and availability of parts. If it's not something that is designed to run with a bike engine then it'll need engine mounts making and then you'll need to sort out the rear geometry - if it's not running the engine it was designed for it'll need a lot of work to set up (the engine block will be a different size, the gearbox will be different so all the suspension on the back end will need considerable work to set up (and the rear wing mounting may need fabricating from scratch too.

Personally I'd avoid it and go for something complete - it'll probably be cheaper in the long run and certainly there will be more help available if you're trying to run something that other people are using. If you're running a one off car then there's nobody to turn to if you're lost for set up ideas. How much experience have you got? Again if you're just starting out then it's better to keep things as simple as possible - use something tried and tested, you'll lose less track time to reliability issues and be able to concentrate on driving.

It is a Tatuus formula renault 1.6, I have a 1.6 4AGE Toyota engine and a beetle gearbox like the hewland ones, I'll need to build the rear chassis and when looking to pictures on the net it could be streaght forward.
I even beleeve that the dummy frame thats in it was build by tatuus or renault and could be the wright dimensions.
