jeffreyj should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
By the way, wasn't 7 Jan 78 the day Rosberg won the NZ GP?

Jeff
I doubt the stickers would be labelled with the date of the GP, more likely to be the date of scruitineering.(Friday or at the latest Saturday) It's easy to check-just go back to the eqivalent of a 1978 calendar and see if the 7th was a Sunday! Is that NZIQ or NZIGP? Is there a legible date on the Baypark sticker(the Castrol one)?
Rahal had 06, and ran number # '2' although it's obvious the nose is from any on eogf the cars that ran the 'Excita'sponsorship in 77.

Dick Bennetts, now of West Surrey Engineering, was chief mechanic. I wonder if he can shed any light on it.

There is no date on the Bay Park sticker. The 7 Jan sticker does read: N.Z.I.Q. (possibly G)It is very clear.
Interesting that after26 years, the seat cover will be reusable with just some black dye. It is almost as new! Amazing what a warm, dry climate (Texas) will do for a stored car.
It sounds like you looked at the pictures the seller provided?
I was able to secure he original Opert car cover and the Rosberg pit board from Bob Cavanaugh, who bought out Operts parts van several years later to keep it from being sold for storage fees! Bob has many parts as well.

Regards,

jeff

Another note on B39s: Paul Lane of Conneticut, U.S., has a B39 for sale alledgedly from Mike Amalfitano...Amalfi Racing. I'll inquire as to it's chassis number.
I purchased B19-72-10, John Burton's former B19 from the fellow Amalfitano bought it from in the 80's and then sold it back to in 2000- Dick Leppla of Ohio.
Interesting reading- the paper trail between Vin/ Helen Malkie and Colin Bennett, Paul goodwin as the car was raced and restored over the 20 years. I have correspondence in the files regarding the restoration of B39-08 and 09 chassis among many others. Great reading.

regards,

Jeff

Yes, Greg, I didn't make the Teretonga-Greg connection. You sent the pictures previously too as I recall. I really appreciate them and the info you provide. (I was pleasantly surprised to find the 39-07 number on the seat back). I spoke to the owner of B39-77-08 and shared your information. He had no idea his was a Rosberg car!!
It is for sale, so he appreciated the history.

My flickr stats told me someone had googled Pironi and B39 so I looked to see what the search had produced. This thread was one of the links.

So here's my contribution.

I think that's all of the Opert cars from '77 that I have currently in my Atlantic set, There may well be a few that I missed.

This is my Atlantic set...there are a number of Opert car shots from '78 in this set too.
