FFord 1600 vs. Zetec

Sorry I realised I posted this in the wrong place! It should be here.

Several years ago I raced in various FFord Zetec and 1600 series but mainly drove Zetecs. I also did some FRenault testing. At the time I didn't really pay much attention to the various championships or differences between the cars as I just drove team cars.

I'm hoping to buy a FFord and run it myself now. This year I'm really only looking at doing some testing at various tracks to see how I go and have seen a couple of Zetecs and 1600s for similar money.

I'm inclined to buy a 1600 mainly because I think it will be easier to find a competitive race series to enter when I finally go racing again. Is this correct? However, for testing I think it would be easier to run a Zetec due to parts and costs.

Would you recommend a car? I'm an engineer and I did a lot of driving in my early 20s so I'm not too concerned about the technical aspect and setup.

Hi
There are loads (too many) threads on here where various drivers swear theirs is the best single seater championship and slag off everyone elses !
Hopefully this thread won't go the same way !
All I will say is if you can make it to Donington on 18th / 19th Aug you are welcome to come and spend some time with the Classic FF 1600 Championship and witness for yourself the great cars / great racing / great paddock social side.
Let me know if you are interested and we can organise you a ticket.
Good luck

Hi,

I think I'd like to take you up on that offer! Which day would you say is likely to be the best?

Thanks,

Michael
