I wonder if Lance Armstrong will ever get the chance to run a team of his own? hmmmm...............probably not.
Is it just me, or am I wrong in thinking that VJ isn't actually doing the whole Force India thing on his own? I thought that he had other business partners in there with him? The ones that had recently allotted £50 million to improve upon the technology they have at the factory? |

Yes but as has been said he knew the right people.
In an earlier life before F1 he was a several times convicted fraudster but fled the country before he ever got to "clink" Very few are "squeaky clean" in F1 and history will show that they never have been |

Come to that there are some pretty unsavoury characters in many forms of racing unsurprising when you consider the potential financial gains particularly in F1. Probably explains why I am such a big fan of club events |

I think that this should realy have a complete new thread regarding fraudsters in motor racing.
The main problem would be if there is enough broadband speed ! Back to Force India. |

It would be a big blow if they did go under not least for one PdR but I don't think BE will let it happen. They have been totally professional in their latest guise after the debacle that what was Midland, Spyker et al. My Jordan wet weather jacket still keeps me dry after several years abuse and I have always supported the underdogs of the sport, the stories of EJ locking the new proprietors out of the premises when Force India took over always makes me chuckle!

Hey Gordon I bet some of your neighbours in El Costa de Crime have a few billions buried in their backyards.Maybe you could borrow a couple?,as Streeter F1 has a ring to it.Get yourself a David Thieme hat and you'd really look the part too...

dunno, it just looked like they'd raided the red bull racing wheelie bins and repainted it in their colours to be honest

Oh right. A pay driver required.
Like McLaren with Perez, Sauber with Gutierez, Maldonado and Bottas at Williams, Grosjean at Lotus, Pic and van der Garde at Caterham, and Chilton and Razia at Marrussia? Yep, they must be in trouble...... Last edited by JeremySmith; 2 Feb 2013 at 21:42. Reason: Fixed McLaren.. |

OK. So we can completely ignore this, and similar press releases?

its not an easy thing to do so got to give credit where credit is due.
if they dont need money for a second seat then one possible knock on effect of pay drivers is there are more than a few very very very good F1 drivers sitting on the sideline wiling to work for a less. if they just have too much choice it might be better to wait and see what kind of car they have then pick. still have my doubts about the long term health of the brand though but for the time being more willing to treat the team and the brand as separate things. |

The owners are in deep trouble but the owners are gargantuan companies that are tough to take down and companies of that size - if the worst does happen - are usually taken over by administrators, broken up and then offloaded to new owners, both with sweeping cost-cutting agendas to make these businesses profitable again. Force India is going to be effected by this if it does occur.
My point is that FI isn't a typical Forti Ford scenario or even a TWR scenario but the crises these big companies are facing is something that will almost certainly damage the future prospects of this team. |
