Motors TV might buy SGT broadcasting right.

Yes. These cars are setting track records or equaling them. Even the test at Fuji, the Lexus was in the 1:30's.

2014 GT500 are 100kg lighter than previous GT500 specs. It helps a lot to compensate the loss of downforce given by the DTM homologated aero parts. Surely the power output is far to be only of 500hp. A german DTM audi, bmw or mercedes entering in GT500 will be at least 4-5 seconds slower, even using larger restrictors.

Only a couple of tenth? Disagree. Let's compare some factors.
Tyres: DTM uses hankook spec tyres, GT500 tyres supplier is free. Useless to say that Michelin and Bridgestone GT500 tyres are state of art, much more better than hankook spec tyres. Weight: DTM is 1110kg driver inside, 2014 GT500 is 1000kg without driver, let's give an average min. weight of 1075kg. Aero: Assume that both DTM and GT500 will have the same aero efficency, being used basicly the same chassis design and aero parts for both series. Engine: DTM poweroutput is between 455-480hp with a torque peak in excess of 500Nm (sources from the official site). Actually nobody but GT500 engineers can tell exactly what will be the real 2014 GT500 output, but watching the test laptimes surely will be close to 525-530hp of previous GT500 specs. Using a turbo engine, torque release will be much more than 500Nm... let's add also the hybrid boost, and I think that won't be unrealistic to talk about >700Nm of combined torque. With the same aero efficency, GT500 will have much better tyres, will be in the range of 30-40kg lighter and clearly more powerfull than german DTM cars. Honestly we should expect more than just a pair of tenth of difference. |

@carbon_titanium
In short, DTM cars are at a disadvantage despite "negotiating" with the ruleset with Super GT. Honestly, I think Audi and Mercedes are too scared to be stomped by the likes of Honda, Nissan, and Lexus/Toyota. No comment for BMW though... The only I can say is "Good Luck!" to them when they joined the GT500 class. |

In short, GT500 will use better tyres, will be lighter and will have a more powerfull engine + hybrid system. 2013 GT500 ran close to private lmp1 best laptimes at fuji, 2013 DTM ran in lmp2 laptimes at redbull ring. If 2013 GT500 were already faster than 2013 DTM, 2014 GT500 cars will be faster than 2013 GT500 so at least 4-5 seconds faster than 2014 DTM (that basicly are 2013 DTM with minor updates because the spec freeze rule).
In my opinion german DTM manufacturers will approach to super GT, only when the L4 2.0 engine formula will become mandatory also in DTM. |

LMP2 cars were pretty close to GT500 times at Fuji last year. I think DTM is about 1-2 seconds slower than 2013's GT500. So around 3 seconds this year if there are no improvements to DTM. A good part is tires, and Im sure the DTM style is making a little more downforce with the additional wings and aero pieces allowed. Imagine if they had the full width rear wing!
