I've been given parts for MiniMM's kart.....at least, a fat b'stard sized seat so that I can have a go testing If I like it I've been promised use of his spare kart for Senior TKM racing, anyone fancy being my "starter motor"?

My daughter is home and asked what I thought of Gangnam Style, I'd never heard of it despite half the planet already having viewed it on Youtube.
The annoying thing is although I don't like it it's now rattling round my head and won't leave. |

Even Gordon doesn't run 14:1 with his homebrew powered Anglebox!
Arthur woke up at 4am . . . then went back to sleep until a respectable 07:30. Lego construction was completed by midday. Merry Christmas to all. As for music we have Soul, Ska, Funk and RnB compilations, I've been distributing CD's round the neighbourhood, not a Z list TV amateur in earshot! |

14:1 was original engine spec from 1973 also runs twin spark. 1973: that when fuel was was 'fully' leaded an additives were eye watering an the octane rate was Hugh.
New retro 'pin up' calendar is up in the garage, race dates started to be written in, 'racing driver' bath duck now situated in the bath..... Still not aloud to play with new pistons..... Banned from oily activities!!! |

we can still get proper eye watering fuel, its the price that makes it most eye watering, but its a good insurance policy for properly tuned race engines

Santa brought me a new Scalextric, the James Bond set with a Range Rover and a DB5. The Range Rover kept on going round & round all day, whilst the DB5 had intermittent electrical gremlins, the front bumper fell off & it needed a couple of coins stuck to its roof to keep it on the track & overcome the contact gremlins with the track. Bloody classic cars
Good day at the Plum Pudding meeting today in my XJS, even though it was a bit cold with a damp & greasy track this morning & the heavens opened for my second race this afternoon. Thanks Al for coming along & being spanner man & also to Grant for braving the elements to take some really good shots. I was the only RWD classic there in a field of AWD & FWD classics & moderns ranging from proper Minis to a BMW Mini, with a couple if Escort Cosworths thrown in for good measure. Came 10th & 11th out of 19, a couple of marshals summed it up when they asked me if the XJS was my car, swiftly followed by 'Are you mad?' when I answered yes. Happy New Year to all |

About 10 mins into the race I started to trek back down to the esses whch afforded a chance to watch large gaggles of cars braking for the hairpin. The Honda Integra has front and rear wheels locked (I assume both sides) on one lunge along the inside line. Still seemed to be slowing down though. Quite impressive that he kept it pretty much on the tight inside line too. A few pics to follow soon. |

that's the real shame about Mallory, isn't it? You can't quite get around the whole lot. Such a pity they can't join up that last bit. (Unless of course they have on the last couple of years since I last went, at which point I'll look a right twit!)

I think you may well be able to now Tim as there were lots of spectators and cars parked on the farside of the track and I haven't seen that before also it looks like they had done a lot of earthworks there.

However I had left the car down at the esses since I had not been intending to head up to the hairpin and you can't get a car up there. Well, I suppose you could (it was so wet even a 4x4 struggled it seems - someone tried it up on to the bank) but it's meant to be a spectator bank. All it needs is a tunnel ..... oh, hang on, tunnels have not worked out well in the East Midlands so far and given the recent weather and the local fishing ponds it may not be such a sound idea ... |

Moving on ... Other than magnets nobody seems to be talking about driver aids. Back in the day I seem to recall mods that introduced motor braking on over-run and one of the competitors to Scalextric (can't recall the name at the moment) offered an options nylon peg that was a push fit to the body at the back of the car (A Cooper T something in my case) that ran in the slot thus ensuring no tale out shenanigans. Hardly sport of course but quite good for any novices that turned up to play but had no clue how anything worked or how to control speed. |
