They called a safety car for a fire on the pit exit, the walled off part, when you could just close the pit lane to recover the car as the pit exit is not part of the racetrack.

It's not part of the track?! It's physically separate from the track.

It's no different to having a fire in the pit lane, pit paddock or behind the garages.

All you need to do is close the pit lane entry. The only difference would be US oval style tracks where the pitlane is not fully walled off, but this one is, it just has a gap in the wall but is after that where there is a wall again.

Calling a SC so everyone pits is the opposite of what you want with a blocked pit lane, no?

I never said it's part of the track. You think it's ok to leave the pit lane partially blocked by a car that's on fire, whilst marshals try and recover it, in an active pit lane?

You can't close pit entry because cars would still need emergency service, and have to navigate a burning car.

It routinely closes. Hamilton was penalised at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix for entering a closed pit lane.
