Or looking for a sponsor to rename the series? They say Rome wasn't built in a day. And yet what a difference a day makes.

I've not been following FNippon too closely, might any of these drivers make it to Europe/F1 eventually? Not including ex-F1 drivers.

Not to sounds blunt, but no. It's like the IndyCar series. One you enter, odds are that is where your open wheel career will stay. No longer do we see it like the early 90's where it was actually a better place to spring board an F1 career from than International F3000 and CART.

In both case Nippon and CART had great depth of talent and Indycar is only just remotely returning to that depth of quality over 10 years later. I'm not sure Nippion ever will and as a result it isn't as attractive I guess? |

If they want Formula Nippon to have the same level as the current IndyCar, why not ask Swift to make an update on their Formula car like letting the teams make aero parts with a limited budget, as well as pushing hybrid tech on this series.

FNippon will always be below IndyCar & so it should be... Saying that, IndyCar aint a springboard to F1, but FNippon could produce the next Japanese driver!
Andre Lotterer won round 2 at Motegi, his 17th FNippon win i believe... Standings after round 2... |

I think that Japan is a good career path for a driver in the current tire dominated world of F1, because you get to test a lot of tires and work with the tire manufacturers and this must make a big impact on your development as a driver. It's not like here to have 2 sets for the day... and that's it. You could see how Ben & Andre were fast from the word go in the Audis, especially in Le Mans with all the different conditions and compounds.

Why should FNippon be below IndyCar, and how is it so? The cars are faster, the technology is greater.

Would you rather be IndyCar Champion or FNippon Champion?

I would rather be Indy 500 champion than both, but of the two I'd rather be a Formula Nippon champion as it would mean that I most likely have a top drive in Super GT or would have a top drive in Super GT, plus I'd be making quite a bit more money as the Japanese are willing to throw more money into this type of racing than Americans. Duval, Lotterer, and Treluyer also have pretty sweet rides in sportscars, although that's down to them being French more than anything. The career possibilities are many many many more in Japan than they are in America. You can't get to F1 from either, but with Japan and it's manufacturers, I could do more in a career.
