Form filled in and sent back within about 30 minutes of getting it through the front door. Quick phone call to Business partner to tell him I am applying.

Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone applying.

thanks for the info Andy-
at 1 in 5 it's better than the lottery odds.
Now, if only the other 4 have issues with say f'rinstance getting travelling permission,
a fear of flying,
getting time off work or even
preferring to marshal races when it's cold and wet,

I'll be quids in.

Good luck one and all - yes my form is in, I even declined a good friend who offered to hand deliver it for me. Not that I don't trust ...

Strangely enough Chezza, Dubai autodrome has always been Orange. Taking whites if you had them, even though maybe offering some protection from the heat of direct sunlight was specifically not allowed.

Maybe something different for Abu Dhabi eh?
Mostly white with Orange sleeves for visibility and black epaulettes (a token bit of black just for you)?
Or does that sound like a complete fashion disaster? can you wear white with orange? - <appeals to those with dress sense>

Wrong forum!

Chances are probably higher than getting in at Silverstone this year, so its always worth a go

cunning plan hatched!! hand deliver my application and then ambush the postie who delivers to Thruxton every day till 12 June!!!.....just a thought maybe the reason the flight out is on a Tuesday is so that the 300 can help finish the circuit, spannering armco, laying telephone cables, siting posts ect ect......inshallah!!!

AHA!! sponsors of the Abu Dhabi GP are Etihad, the national airline, suspect the lucky 300 can expect an Airbus A300 and something to plop down at Heathrow or Manchester and whisk all to Abu Dhabi and back http://www.yasmarinacircuit.ae/ for those who want to have a look

A collegue of mine spoke to Thruxton who said they have sent out 2320 forms, giving a 1 in 7 chance of being chosen!

... less trainees, less people who can't/don't want to make it, and adjusted for probable weighting to more experienced people.

Who knows what the odds are now....

When we went out with the BRSCC to the temporary street circuit in Korea, walking the circuit for an armco check was part of the deal. Yep, checking the bolts were tightened! Make sure the marshals' posts were in the right location and had clear access and escape routes. Checking the cranes' extension & lifting ability was a good idea too.

First American GP at Indy in 2000, walked the circuit on Thursday, after registration (sign on). Again that was a new circuit and sometimes marshals see sight lines differently from Mr Tilke.

Dubai, circuit operating procedures, post check etc day before racing commences.

As the letter said, little free time during the days.

By Friday morning first session Yas Marina must be running as smoothly as Silverstone does for a GP. Silverstone has had nearly 60years of refinement and a core team that knows the circuit's ins and outs.

Plus, I got two forms, so does that give me double the chance, or give everyone a 1/2320th better chance

I suspect multiple databases - and cunningly, I've obviously provided SLIGHTLY different addresses, so they don't get caught!

Ah well, no invitation to apply for me.....mind you, I've still not received either a stamp card or a hard copy of the meetings I've put in for yet either. Boy, I must've *really* upset the BARC now !
