Well, I think it is safe to say the car shows a slight improvement over last year's car.

Seems the wind isn't really affecting the 919

Very curious as to how a two second improvement at this track will translate to Le Mans. It's great to see the cars getting even more mileage. I have a feeling that the drivers have a bit more confidence in the evo version. I really hope that they are able to keep a good pace without the degradation that hindered them so much last season. The gloves aren't completely off in regards to the competition, but I do think Porsche is looking strong. The major disappointment livery wise will become a distant memory if she has lasting pace.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the best time set last year 1:41.7?

So, the million dollar question is where are Audi and Toyota really at pace wise. I can't imagine that Porsche would risk showing too much speed this early on.

I suspect that they will be a lot closer than they are currently showing.

Can anybody confirm that Porsche's fastest laps are done after the outlap? At least in the morning session they put the fastest lap after the outlap and then came back in or drove high 1:42/1:43.
So maybe they are going out with fully charged batteries and use all the available power for one lap. |

Yes. Their very quick laps are done after their out-laps, but the encouraging thing (for us Porsche fans) is that they are able to repeat that speed (almost) later on in the stint.

Day 1 and the early indications are that the cars generally have made a significant step forward.
Porsche is looking good at this early juncture. It would be great to look at detailed lap-by-lap data. That said, I am sure no one is putting their best foot forward quite yet. It does seem, based on all sorts of bits of information including posted videos, that this year's 919 is a much more rounded and driveable race car. The two 919s each did more laps than any of the other P1s, so Porsche's prodigious test mileage continues to grow... |

It looks like what Porsche have done with the 919 is similar to what they did between 2006 and 2007 with the RS Spyder, further develop the car from a solid base into a very fast car
