Yeah, I thought A40 as well. Certainly the roof and back end at least. As for the remainder...?

I kind of recognise the badge on the nose, but just can't place it.

Thanks to EB for the link to live feed. I watched Iain's race and some of the saloon car action.
Great range of cars and enjoyable to see some that are rare on UK circuits nowadays, Avenger, Hunter, X1/9.
The V8 Zephyr looked fabulous. Triumph 2000/2500 performed well too, great last lap competition with Escort.
The weather reminded me of Knockhill last October.

With regard to car #62 I thought A40 too - perhaps fitted with a little known Special Tuning streamlined front end, or is that my imagination....

Seeing the windscreen and front end, it could be anything. Found this from NZ but the Farina base is easy to spot.

I can only assume that the 'Fordina' moniker comes from it having a Ford engine? It then becomes an amalgamation of 'Ford' & 'Farina'.

I can't see anything Ford-like in the body?

Paul is on the right track..... From what I can understand / know the A40 Fordina is based on an A40 but with a Ford engine. Fordina is a play on Ford and Farina.
I believe the original owner / builder was a Clyde Collins (with his mechanic Phil Williams) fitted the Ford pushrod engine. It raced in the Allcomer Saloon categorie in New Zealand in 1966/67.
Clyde Collins sold it to his brother Warren Collins c 1968, who upgraded it to a Lotus Twincam motor.
I notice in the Groundsky link that Alfaholic put up states the car when pictured was driven by an Adam Collins and this weekend it is entered by a Tom Collins (ie yet another Collins) so same family ownership through multiple generations I guess.
It might not be the exact original build shell now as I also saw a mention of it being a replica to the original Clyde Collins built car. Im sure in a 50 /60 yr racing history its had a knock or two that wouldnt buff out!

There doesnt seem to be a live stream running today.... I have one that says live, but in fact its a repeat of yesterday. The nearest I could find was one that wanted a login but then says its free but we want. your credit card detils at which point I bailed out. The words Free and give me you credit card details to access goes beyond my limit of common sense / trust

Two more races today . Now mixing it with the FFord locals . 1 st race gear lever disappeared on last lap . Found in undertray . Simple fix . 2 nd race 30 degrees hot hot hot. Made some places up and got my lap times down so very happy . Wednesday fly to Auckland and let’s hope we can get the cars to Levels race track next weekend .

I'm so jealous of you guys there in NZ... but at the same time, I'm really p*ssed off on your behalf at the at the major cock-up that has delayed the cars and caused you to miss your first event.

Seems at least Delta got a drive at Ruapuna, but have MGD and Rich missed out altogether on that one? What a shame if so.

I know they do things a bit differently down there, having been fortunate enough to attend a couple of meetings at Hampton Downs - once in 2013 and again in 2018. Only as a spectator sadly, though I'd love to have a go! Was fortunate to get time to see a couple of the other circuits on the North Island too: Taupo & Manfield.

The circuits in NZ do tend to have a different flavour to what we have here - mostly they seem to be fairly compact venues with tight, twisty infield sections: think infield section of Snetterton 300, but without the rest of the circuit. Hampton Downs is the exception, which has a more open, flowing nature more akin to a typical British circuit.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings - just thought it may give a bit of insight for those who've never been there.

I really hope the cars can be cleared in time for the next meeting so you guys get at least some decent track time for all your efforts. Keeping everything crossed!

A few other things I found while trying to find out what the mystery car was (I do like oddities in the racing world) - the one being raced is actually a replica and they also have a replica of a Cortina V8 that Clyde Collins raced in period.

Sadly, yes, but was kept busy helping Iain with the Titan. Did he mention a bolt escaped and the gear lever came off in his hand? Luckily on last lap and quickly fixed for next race.
There's a solid plan which gets the cars to Timaru at 06:00 Friday just in time for practice. Cross fingers.
Jackie & I having good holiday anyway - ribs for dinner in full view of Mount Cook tonight.
