He raced in the aussie f3 support race at Melbourne, don't know what he is doing for the whole season though.

Yeah, Jowsey is doing a full Asian F3 season, although there aren't many races this season before they switch to a winter series later in the year. Doubt he'll return though.
Reckon Comtec could have the pick of the drivers. They are one of the few teams with a full sponsor, so maybe money is less of an issue with them??? Noticed an interesting quote from Jerome D'Ambrosio saying he was desperate to get back to World Series this year even for an invitation race even though he was signed to FMaster a couple of days ago. He was pretty quick for Comtec in testing - although most of the drivers who tested that car were. |

If he's got a few quid that'll make him quite attractive I would have thought?!
And welcome to the forum WSR Fan, you clearly know some stuff about your favourite championship and I'm sure I speak on behalf of other regulars on such topics that I look forward to your further contributions throughout the season. |

Hi everybody, I was in Monza for race one, great action. Aleshin impressive, top form. Vettel drove a great second part of the race.

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome
It sure is shaping up to be a great season, although by the looks of it Motors TV appears to have dropped WSR from it's schedule. However, if the Renault-Sport site is to be believed, we should have highlights on the Sky Sports channels, most probably on World Motor Sport show. According to this week's Autosport mag, World Motor Sport is on at the following times over the next week (in the UK) so hopefully we might see some action from Monza: Monday 23rd April: 19:30 - 22:00 (Sky Sports Extra) Tuesday 24th April: 10:00 - 12:30 and 14:30 - 17:00 (both on Sky Sports 2) I've also just discovered this today - if you go to http://www.raceworld.tv and click on the 'EuroBoss, TGP F1 & Formula Cars' link you can watch highlights of the Zolder, Misano, Spa and Nurburgring World Series events from 2006! |

Nothing yet on van Lagen's replacement at Comtec? It's awful quiet.

How many drivers with sufficient cash have you got on a market? They need to wish to do WSFR3.5, and they will walk in to it without testing (depands on who will they chose).
Ernesto Viso might be good bet, now, can you tell me what's going on with him? |

I think Viso is still chasing an STR seat. The only names I've come up with are Sean McIntosh and Jonny Reid so far, although Eric Salignon or Patrick Pilet wouldn't be a bad bet either - Jonathan Summerton possibly??.
Maybe they can tempt Susie Stoddart back...?? Hmmm, maybe not |

This is a bit off-topic from the current discussion but escuderiatelmex.com streams all the races their drivers participate in. This includes Salvador Duran in World Series, so you guys can also try that on race day.

Apart from the drivers already mentioned by OJB, I can only think of Jerome d'Ambrosio, although AFAIK he's racing in the new International Formula Masters series this year.
I'd still like to see Sean McIntosh in the seat. He did excellently in his debut year last season and it was a shame to see him miss out this year, despite testing for GD Racing at the Nurburgring. |

Seems a bit strange to me. Either Jonathan Lewis has been unable to find a suitable replacement in time and been forced to go back on his decision or he's had a sudden change of heart and decided to give Jaap one last shot.
On a different topic, the Renault-Sport site has added a small highlights video (2mins 23secs) from the first round at Monza: http://www.renault-sport.com/en/worl...aV6/videos.php |

Comtec should bring Westley Barber out of retirement! He's a title winner with Comtec in FF and multiple winner in UK FRenault and Frech FRenault. It's a bit crap if you see where Stoddart and Mann have progressed to after racing with Comtec in FR showing little potential (if any) and Barber has disappeared completely.

I think Stoddart has done pretty well - she would have been in WS with Comtec if she had the money, but I'd say she has more than held her own in DTM anyway. I think Westley Barber would be a good choice though if they could get him

if they are able to fire a driver shouldn't this mean they got sponsorship on their own? In this case I think they could choose whoever they want to.

Wow, I thought they'd be doing 1:27s at best. Parente's time is 'only' 10.3 seconds shy of the best time set during the entire French Grand Prix weekend last year!
It's good to see Parente doing so well this season. Two months ago he didn't even have a seat and now he's leading the championship and looking ultra-competitive. At this rate Tech 1's first win should be just around the corner. Nice to see Van der Garde up there too, although for me Victory aren't yet showing the consistency needed to mount a title challenge. Disappointing to see Ben Hanley right down there again. I suppose it does take time to settle in at a new team, but at the moment things don't look too great for him. Also, there were only 29 cars because Richard Philippe fractured his hand at Monza. He is hoping to be fit enough to race at the Nurburgring though. Last edited by WSR Fan; 25 Apr 2007 at 16:54. |
