Here's a 550 from the French GT Championship in 1999 -

Still no idea about the 360 - there was no N-GT class in FIA GTs until 2000. The first 360s that raced in FIA GTs were little more than 360 Challenge cars - they didn't even have rear wings until part way through their first season.
I suspect that's exactly what it will be- one of JMB's original N-GT class 360s from 2000.

The driver is listed as Peter Kutemann- wasn't he one of the original drivers for those cars?

In that case, why isn't it listed under GT3? Or it had to be the late-season spec with the rearwing:

The entry list has now been updated - it seems we've lost the Ratel-driven F40 and the Blue Coral 911 GT1

In the 1st practice session the 911 GT1 of Collard and Malucelli was a massive 15 seconds faster than the next car!

Neither McLaren ran a timed lap in the session. Most of the other cars haven't yet set anything like competitive times.

EMKA are going home
they have no tyres, apparently Michelins fault.
Pirrelli stickers, dunlops on the car- Michelins fault.
or so my source (blame tim the grey) says.
he also says that the gt1 porsche ended the day towed behind a land rover.
lets hope for better on saturday!

For a first outing for cars that have been garaged for nearly a decade, there's going to be a high attrition rate. Hopefully there'll be something on track for us to see tomorrow.

Here here, although i'll have to see what's still in one piece on Sunday when I get there!

Lovely pics, thanks for link geeteeone.

911GT1 looks laverly.

Huge shame about the EMKA car though, those things are one of my all time favourites and was looking forward to comparing the sound of the McLaren to the Murcialago in the main even - 2 of the best sounding cars ever.

Shame about the EMKA McLaren. Hopefully this series can expand and we can see some more classic machinery.

Tim Dunlop should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi there,

Enjoyed the free practice sessions for the GT90 series today.

Managed to get loads of pictures which I am working through, heres a couple to be going on with.

The Mclaren only managed less than half a lap during the first session. It came out of the entrance by the Brooklands suites rounded Luffield corner and dived back into the pits.

I think I must have been stood in the right place at exactly the right time.

More to follow.

Regards

Tim

I'd say that is half way to great photography...the next 25% is having the camera on hand then the next 25% (the hard bit) is what you skillfully display in your photos..yet again im very impressed with your pics. long may you keep them coming

The Lotus (which was hardly a top flight car in its day) was the only pukka GT1 car to qualify - joined by a couple of Stealths & F40s.

Lap times fitting between the tail of GT2 & front of GT3.

Bit of a way to go for these cars - maybe they should have done an open test.

Unfortunately the race was a bit of a disaster... the BMS Porsche blew an engine yesterday so did not start. The McLaren had mechanical issues that meant it had to be withdrawn. The Marcos also suffered from problems in practice, so that was withdrawn as well.

During the race, the cars that did take the start were dropping like flies... for cars built to do 24 hours, they were struggling to do 24 minutes. Good battle between Peter Cook's 911 GT2 and one of the Stealths though.

True to form, the Lotus GT1 driven by Giroix retired mid-race, it looked like one of the radiators suddenly dispensed with its contents as it passed the pits. I would imagine the car is doubtful for tomorrows race.

I was thoroughly underwhelmed.
I'm a big gt2 993 fan, but that isn't enough- as the commentator said, where would we be without the Venturis?
Special mention for the guy with the TVR challenge who hung on to the big guys for a while!

The McLaren's problem was apparently something to do with the driver's door not staying shut (and occasionally flying off)?

Huge dissappointment in the end really - no 911 GT1s, no McLarens, no Marcos, the Lotus only lasted a handful of laps, the F40 and the Harrier both broke down. Ten cars running at the end, a handful of which spent a long while in the pits, the only cars which really went half the distance were the GT2 Porkers and the GT3 challenge cars.

I appreciate the chance to see some of this machinery again, it's just a shame that so few showed up and a lot of those who did struggled so much - this is a great idea but it has a long way to go... hope they do it again next year though - with some proper preperation there could be a really fantastic grid in this series!

One interesting thing I've just discovered - Fabien Giroix's pole time in the Lotus GT1 was quicker than he managed in qualifying in the same car back in 1997. Although obviously the configuration of the circuit has changed slightly since then.

Hi there,

Heres a pic for you guys that were unlucky and did not manage to see the Porsche GT1 in action. The car sounded awesome and was easily the quickest car round the circuit.

This shot was taken during the Friday afternoon practice session.
