Seats and harnesses for sprints/hilclimbs

I've looked in the MSA Competitors' yearbook and i'm none the wiser with regards to what the requirements are for seats and harnesses. I had FIA compliant (i believe) items installed in 2002/2003 and want to know what the requirements are for these type of speed events.

Here are the items I current have:

seats:

harnesses:

Can anyone point me to the right section on the book so I can understand what's needed

many thanks
sean

If your 205 is road legal then you only need lap belts as per the standard vehicle, however if you have fitted harnesses and they are out of date, as yours are (Not valid after2007) then you will not pass scruitineering.

thanks, yes road legal but cage fitted etc.

ok need new harnesses...

What about the seat ? does that go out of date ? as it has a manufactured date rather than an expiry date.

Sean, I would contact the MSA Technical Department (tel 01753 765000) and ask them the direct question, are these belts OK to use in sprints and hillclimbs?

Copperbottom has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Seats and harnesses don't need to be in date unless you're competing in FIA events.Your seat and harness will be fine.

No problem with the seat, but which class are you running in as this could have an effect on your belts.

That's my understanding on the rule too. I eagerly await scrutineers answer.

Every scruitineer I have met have said if its fitted it must comply. i.e. if you have harnesses fitted but they are not necessery for the class, the fitted harness must still comply. Its date coded therfore may fail in an accident, its your safety at the end of the day.

In the last two years not a single scrutineer has checked to see if the seat belt in the Elan was "in date". All they have done is check for wear & tear.

As Far as i know, and i'm not a scrute, the FIA ticket is for FIA events only so at a national level as long as they are of a servicable condition then they will pass scrutineering.

Don't quote me though.

I wouldn't think twice about replacing belts that have been in an "incident" they'd be gone without a thought, at the end of the day it's me strapped into them.

Just had a look at the blue book and for that car it is required to have belts complying to C(c)45.4 point
