Drugs!
ok, due to a medical condition i've been prescribed a type of steroid by my doctor.
firstly, does anyone have a list (or a link) of the banned substances? and secondly, shoudl it be a banned substance, is it possible to get an exemption (as its obviously not being taken to gain a performance advantage)? any info is much appreciated. |

I see them take a random blood test once at a clubbie! It was after it had just come in I think they hauled Mr G Cain off if I remember correctly but he was found negative, poor guy don't even smoke!

Completely off topic (sorry) but Al's comment just reminded me of a time when I was leaving the track Pembrey after a race and got pulled over by the MSA eligibility scrutineer for a complete car check Considering I'd just been lapped by everyone in my class, and by some of them twice, I wondered if he'd pulled me over to check I'd remembered to fit an engine

When they brought in random drug testing, I volunteered immediately.
Never been asked to try any though. Gone are the days when you'd have a pint or three with your lunch, then get onto the grid. I remember seeing footage of Gerry Marshall handing his pint to a crew member, before getting into his car.... A bit like the old days of the man filling the car with fuel, while puffing on a Craven-A. Rob. |

Joss that is very very funny :-) I think it went over there heads though, too suttle.
I used to work for Roger Nathan Racing and at the complex in Fortis Green Road amoungst others like David Piper was that larger than large Aussie character Paul Hawkins. He was on an all nighter on the eve of one big race, took the GT40 out for the warm up lap, pulled over halfway round, shot a tiger out the door (his terminolgy) and drove on to line up and win the race, they don;t make em like that any more. Back to the original question. It's usually a matter of getting a letter from your doctor saying that no alternative drug not on the IOC banned list is suitable in your case. There will be a small fee for that from your doctor and the MSA will then lose the letter and fail to apologise for doing so or pay for a replacement. All for the amateur branch of a sport that involves sitting on your backside throughout the competitive bit.

I have been 'drug' tested a couple of times. All it has been so far is a standard breathalyser test.
I am beginning to wonder why they keep picking on me, is my driving really that bad? |

Closest I've ever seen in 5 years car racing about anything related to drugs, was a CoC reminding everyone at a drivers' briefing that the alcohol limit is Zero at a race meeting. Now karting, that's a different matter |
