I won't be surprised if they announce a tie up with the new to be founded African Le Mans series and schedule a race in Nigeria....
Yet another schedule change shows this series will keep having problems to establish itself, not gonna work. |

Sad little fact: With Zhuhai now gone there are only 3 non-FIA Grade 1 circuits left in ACO sanctioned series: Circuit de la Sarthe (Grade 2), Estoril (Grade 2+1T), Inje (Grade 2)
In USCC only one is Grade 1 (does the "new" modified Indy have Grade 1 yet? if so then two) but that's not ACO territory anymore edit - apparently Estoril is now 1 http://theportugalnews.com/news/esto...on-track/29899 So only Le Mans and Inje... Last edited by Deleted; 9 May 2014 at 14:30. |

People complaining about Grade 1 tracks and Tilkedromes... lol, last year in F1 alone all Tilkedromes produced better racing than Monza or Spa. |

What the hell are they thinking of? Just because China Touring Car Championship is moving away from AsLMS as a support package, they decide to move from a track with loads of overtaking and spectators to a totally unknown territory, where its prime minister changes every other week and stupid street politicians yelling every day full of Bangkok!
I can't see anything more stupid than this. |

Because the CTCC were obviously paying/responsible for the track's costs. I would guess.
Phew, at least we're moving away from another of these wretched characterful circuits with sportscar racing history to another faceless venue which is looking for something to do when its not being bankrupted by Bernie. That said, I think another new track, Inje, is now my favourite on the calendar, so maybe I am being too quick to judge. |

For Christ's sake everyone wait for the track to finish before you judge! Good grief...

Reason is out of the minds of many. Its like saying the F1 race in Azerbaijan shouldnt go forward because they have no racing history. You gotta start somewhere. And Thailand isnt the only country with government issues. Youll get protests everywhere. Its good to see a new track, even if the layout looks a little simple.

On the subject of Inje, it does have the benefit of terrain (which I assume was the natural lie of the land?) If this Thai circuit can incorporate some elevation changes then it's already better than most new tracks. |

According to Sports-carracing.net, joint race of SGT and AsLMS (Fuji Aug.10) was canceled. Alternative schedule of AsLMS in Japan does not decided yet. Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 11 May 2014 at 11:25. |

They say they want to be the lead event, yet they cannot even stage rounds without other series paying majority of the bills and being actual headliner racing series of the weekend. So they are only kidding themselves by saying that. If they REALLY want exposure they should either a) Merge the grids with WEC Asian rounds, like 3 of the 5 races... which obviously won't happen as both sides are so stiff-necked b) Try to join WTCC Asian rounds for more weekend than one - and also somehow attempt to lobby Eurosport to cover some of the racing on those weekends when they are there anyway, perhaps by shortening the race length... which obviously won't happen as ACO doesn't understand the concept of sprint racing like ALMS did c) Attempt to lobby yourself into F1 support bill for one of their Asian races, like Singapore. Max 90 minute support race to please the FIA... which obviously won't happen for the same reason as B, and also F1 isn't exactly the easiest to go bed with Also maybe considering merging at least some of the classes with Sepang 12 hours. This is not a headliner series or one that anyone is gonna care about as it's own entity, so they should be looking out for more high profile series which they could support. F1 support races are huge money makers for Bernie. Some series pays a lot of money to be on the support bill. If AsLMS could afford that kind of dole, then it might as well run its own event.

So series like Malaysian Super Series and Chevrolet Supercar Middle East can afford to book their little support races, but AsLMS couldn't?

To say that AsLMS is run on a budget would be an understatement. AFAIK MSS is run with government subsidies.
A merger/joint-race with the Sepang 12 Hour wouldn't work because half of the field is made up of grassroots teams. Their best strategy is to align their races with GT Asia and Audi R8 LMS Cup because that's where the money is. |

"You have to crawl before you learn to walk", instead AsLMS is trying to run already while all it can do right now is cry...

OAK have launched the AsLMS program. Is it me or does the OAK Ligier LMP2 actually look pretty good?

How much Ligier does this Ligier actually has in it? 'Cause in this class or rebranded "Morgans" and "Alpines" and "Lotuses" and "Caterhams" and "Mazdas" (+ plus engines prepared by other makes) it's becoming increasingly difficult to spot real from fake unless you know what which kind of wolf is hiding in sheep's clothes.

It's the OAK LMP2 couple that's supposed to supplement (or replace?) the Courage/Pescarolo C60/01 based Morgan chassis. The Ligier it can be argued might be the starting point for a possible OAK LMP1 car in the future.
It seems to be another branding exercise on OAK's part. The only reason why Mazda branded the Lola LMP2 cars that SpeedSource runs is because Lola Cars, Ltd. doesn't exist as it's own company anymore, and Multimatic allowed Mazda USA to badge the cars as "Mazda Prototypes". |

It's a branding exercise, but it's more of a collaboration between the two to span LMP2 - (future) LMP3 - CN and other stuff. OAK has been building P2 cars, Ligier CN cars...

EDIT: You know, if OAK Racing Team Asia is so ardent about their all-Chinese driver lineup and their Chinese involvement, it wouldn't surprise me if they made the decision to race at the 6 Hours of Shanghai. I realize they don't have a full-season entry already in place but surely the ACO could be a bit flexible, especially since OAK itself was one of their finest teams and will surely return to full competition next year. |

Okay thanks. Knew OnRoak was basically designing more or less whole thing but thought Ligier might have had at least something else in the car than just stickers again. But maybe in future.
So "Ligier". I do like my quotation marks. |
