The brilliant thing about Top Gear is that a budget cut won't hurt them too much - the brand is really strong and makes quite a bit of cash, so I wouldn't expect to see too much of a drop in quality.
Or rather more annoyingly, a drop in Star in a Reasonably priced car. |

I think it will actually help - they will have to think of other ways to entertain than just destroying things etc

Well where are their main costs?
Mega trips in the USA or elsewhere...? or cheap caravans in the UK... |

Their biggest costs, and I should point out at this moment that this is a totally wild guess, will be the cast, crew (which is quite a big one), facilities and equipment over a couple of months and wherever they need to go, possibly celebrity appearance fees [depends who set up the celbrity]. Then come the travelling costs, costs of any prop [i.e. the older invariably doomed cars, caravans etc]. Oddly enough the cheapest thing they have are the [new] cars - which are usually loaned to the production team by the car companies press departments. There are exceptions to that rule mind - that Challenger for a start.
It was featured in Broadcast magazine a few months ago, I think. I'll see if I can find the copy. |

Hmm, was I the only one that thought the last season of Top Gear was really poor..?
It felt so horrible manufactured and jokes were re-hashed. It no longer felt natural, it felt like a tightly scripted show of all the successful bits they've tried before. Really lost its magic Selby |

Totally agree, guys. It's still better than most things on telly, but you can predict how the episode will go:
Starts off with Clarkson power test of stupidly powerful and expensive car (cue loud orchestral music and heavily filtered tyre-smoking slides) to which Clarkson says "this is the greatest car I've ever driven..EVER.....but, it won;t go around corners and tried to kill you.......BUT, it's the best thing I've ever done and provides fun in BIBLICAL proportions" Then the first part of an entertaining but usually pretty silly TG challenge Then the news (cue same old jokes every week) and the Star in a reasonably priced car Then the second part of the challenge where it all ends incredibly closely after 27 billion light years of Hamster and Cptn Slow travelling by stilts compared to Clarkson nipping down the shops in a Veyron Then the Stig (whose identity is not a secret anymore) Then the end. And we still watch it, eh? Just wish a little bit more originality came back into it. |

Well in one episode there is a race which takes place at a UK airfield. I can't tell you any more as the BEEB would have to kill me if I did (some say that would be a blessing in disguise I know)

I saw a rumour on another forum that Michael Schumacher is the star in a reasonably priced car this week - anybody know or is this just a complete made up rumour someone's spreading?

So do we think Schuey was really the Stig then?

No, my suspicion is they wanted the Ferrari on there but Ferrari said who was to drive it. Or something like that. Or they wanted the Ferrari on there and it was just an excuse / reason to get MS on there. Whatever, I don't think MS is The Stig.

No, I dont think MS is the stig at all.
Secondly, they just couldn't afford him, surely? |
