Kept wiping his left eye after he got out in the car.

Could be break dust? My dad used to suffer from it really badly just from the track side.

If Iceberg hadn't won at Monaco - then it probably would have been game over for the WDC. This does help him out a lot - not just getting the championship lead back - but in the good old fashioned mind games that they are playing with one another.

We can expect Lewis to be stronger at Canada(as he always seems to run well there) - but this does help Nico no end.

From the coverage I saw, you're both right. His time was a tenth down, but at the braking point he was 7kph faster than he'd been previously. Which to me suggests he was pushing a little too hard to make it up, knowing Lewis would probably find another tenth or two. Which is also why I think it was a genuine mistake and an honest abort to save the car.

Lewis may get a bit flakey. The shadow of Senna and Prost looms over him and Hamilton seems to be in this strange mind thinking he has to play it like Senna.

He has to snap out of it or face another phase where's he's out of kilter and erratic like he was when was hot and cold on the matter of his girlfriend. Rosberg's Monaco event was messy-ish but he certainly has the mental edge going into Canada.

Moving away from the qualy incident, something i've been thinking about the last couple of races is the different approaches the two drivers take in the race. We all know over one lap Lewis is faster than Nico,he's also generally better at the starts and the first few laps but then fades away when the tyres start to go. Nico on the other hand doesn't seem to have that initial pace like Lewis (although he's still damn quick), but he's a lot more consistent and manages to look after his tyres better over the course of a race.
I thought at the beginning of the season that Lewis would easily beat Nico in the championship, especially as he's settled into the team, but i'm not so sure now.

It interests me that Lewis always seems to have a considerable edge over Nico on fuel though - not that this seems to be the influence that it was originally predicted to be before the start of the season....

I'm glad Lewis didn't do anything stupid today but he hasn't endeared himself to people with his childish behavior these last few days. He needs to grow up, stop playing 'mind games' he's no good at and let his results do the talking.

Lewis talks about how McLaren would have had him in the pits immediately when the crash happened. Also, he is not NR's friend. It also drives me nuts how Lewis said in other interviews that he want to win fairly (I take it as a stab at Rosberg at winning unfairly). LH is generating all the tension hype where Rosberg basically just drives. I have much greater respect for Rosberg.

I think D. Hill is right Lewis is only going to beat himself! His father needs to bend him over his knee and slap his arse, if he is going to continue like a spoiled child. If it was the other way round Rosser would have shook his hand and got on with it!

I thought last year Lewis had turned a corner regarding his spoilt brat behaviour. Maybe that's because he had left McLaren and Mercedes had a fantastic package waiting in the wings for 2014. So now things aren't going his way, he's merely reverted to type.

I agree, he needs his father's influence, rather than some pop-star management company looking after him.

Usually someone who has had something in their eye has a bloodshot eye don't they ? Lewis' eyes seemed fine shortly after the race when he was interviewed, no sign of any redness/bloodshot ?

Davyboy, I think you and Athgoe Racing and Damon Hill "Lewis is only going to beat himself" are on the money here.

I think that Rosberg is less affected and less distracted by the mind games, and he is additionally not wasting his time them up, nor alienating his pit crew and engineering staff!

Not a weekend that Hambo was at his best, which is a pity, I thought as did BJ that he had turned the corner.
Apparently not!

Yeah - Lewis' behaviour wasn't good - it doesn't help that he has been doing his mind games in the press. I think he should stop and just focus on beating Nico on the track.

Apparently, Nico wasn't impressed with Lewis at Spain because he went against team orders and turned his car's engine settings up during that race. That's why it seems to be handbags at dawn over at Mercedes.

Hamilton has had a bad week but I think this accusing him of his level of pretence is perhaps overdoing it a bit.

Maybe Hamilton should have a look at the post race interview with Helio Castroneves after finishing a very close second at the Indy 500 yesterday.
