Two BMWs enters the BTCC
BTCC --- November 25, 2000

Edenbridge Racing will enter the Super Production class in the BTCC next year with two BMW 320i E36s. The cars are currently being prepared by Team Rafanelli and the engines will be prepared by the Dutch team Carly Motorsport. Edenbrigde Racing will then be the first team ever to enter a rear-wheel driven racecar to the Super Production class, but a pair of Lexus IS200 are belived to be enterd by ABG Motorsport. No drivers has yet been signed, but according to the team boss Peter Briggs there has been a big interest to drive a BMW in the BTCC. He also adds that he'd like to have younger talents than older experienced drivers.

They are entering the lower BTCC class though. OTOH, at the moment, the BTCC needs every car they can get? What do you think? Do you think more cars will show when the green flag drops next year? Will there be more lower than top BTCC class cars?

West has given in to Lexus and obvious demands from other manufacturers by allowing rear wheel drive in 2001. It is currrently banned. I wonder if 4wd will be allowed then?

Bain and BMP said right from the beginning that there would be made allowances in the rules for teams to consider using a RWD car in the new-look BTCC. 4WD has, for that same period, been absolutely a 'NO' answer...
