Well, everyone around here knows the 48/215 holden, don't they?
Yes, I cut my teeth on these, the first one I owned being the 1952 model, the last of the lever-shock models, it was red, AGH 667 was the numberplate, and I had it for a very short time. But all the cars I had those days were mine only for a very short time. My father had a little sideline car-dealing business going, he'd keep putting cars in place for me, I'd buy them, use them, he'd sell them when a better one came along. |

My first car?
I got my first car in 1967. My mother bought a new one and I took over the old one. A Fiat 850. I only drove it for 5 months before it fell apart. |

my first car was a Chrysler Centura..it had a 265 hemi motor and was an absolute awesome car...i have some photo's of the niggest nurnout i have done 412 metres then the tyres blew
great car with heaps of grunt but sadly the front end was no good and eventually fell apart..allthough for a first car it was a great one to learn how to drive. |

To give our European readers a bit of a clue about Marcus' Centura, this was a Chrysler 80 (early seventies...) which was available in Australia with either the Simca 2-litre engine or a variety of Chrysler Australia's 'hemi' sixes. They ranged from 3.3 litres to 4.2... so they weren't short on grunt.
But I wonder about someone who not only does 412 metre burnouts while they're so inexperienced at the wheel, but keeps it up till a tyre blows! |

Peugeot 403. I loved the car, and I used to test it by driving up to Mt Cootha, both day time and night time. Unfortunately, I put new pistons in it, enterred it in rallies, and the engine kept blowing up and I had to sell it to a wrecker.

My first car was a 1968 Toyota Corolla - it was all I could afford, but it had a good engine and no rust!
It lasted me about 6 months, until it was squashed by a Mazda RX7 hitting it from behind at 80kph. I still kept the car for another 6 months, all squashed and mangled... I just couldnt bear to part with it!! I just had it parked behind my next car...a 1973 Toyota Corolla!! |

A 1960 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia (purchased in 86) it came out standard with a 1200 but it went much better with a worked 1835 me my best friend & I built. Because it had a habit of not starting in the snow it had to go

Mine was a 1972 white Volvo 144S with the twin carbs. It had two good things about it, one was the distinct lack of rust having spent the majority of its life in Canberra. The other was the twin carbs, not that they did much as the engine needed a complete overhaul.

I would normally doubt any claims of the burnout, however, only a true Hemi owner can appreciate the silly things that car made you do |

'C'reg Triumph Herald, with sun roof !! Turn on a sixpence, 0 - 60 about 2 minutes. Blew up big time after about 9 months. Obtained Ford Escort after that.
First actual car was a Wolsley 15/50, no MOT, not old enough to drive but used it around a disused car park near our house, this led to several other old cars. We owned about 10 cars before 17 years old. Simon |

FIAT 126p. Awesome car to learn how to drive. Short wheelbase (1.86m), RWD, rear engined, underpowered, all 4 drum brakes... Excellent sitting position, too. I currently have newer model with 650cc engine.

As Fiats, Peugeots and Centuras predominate...
So you went for the big power, Wolf? Both cylinders beating furiously... |

My first and current (although it still aint really mine) is a 95 Mondeo. It's too expensive for me to be playing silly buggers in, and I doubt it could do much of a burn out .
