Terry Scannell should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2006 Britcar 24hr Silverstone is go!

The following note has been posted on the EERC website today;

2006-24hr Race is go.......
The Silverstone 24hr Race will be on the GP Circuit on the 14th-17th September 2006 to be 12pm-12pm 80 cars to start, classes to be confirmed,gt3rs/gt3/gtcup/ps1/ps2/ps3 with the petrol station...

The EERC are very pleased that Silverstone Circuits are going to do a joint promotion with the Sponsors of the EERC

Let's just hope that there are not too many clashing meetings that weekend (especially in a certain part of East Anglia) so we can all be there!!

OK, that's going straight in my diary. Just as long as it doesn't clash with either Shelsley or holidays, I'll be there.

Its good that there is an early announcement but I am a little worried that it may conflict with other dates that may not yet have been considered, eg. A1GP, Goodwood Revival. Last year although not major events I recall that there were about 10 other meetings on the same weekend as the 24 hr race. I will not be committing myself this early?

Certainly a date to put in my diary as a must do
As regards clashing events - well, I hope that all the other clubs now have good notice of this event and therefore can avoid scheduling too many meetings on the same weekend, especially in the same area. If that does happen or not though, we will see...

PeterM should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Asp poses an interesting point and one which is difficult to solve. We have seen on other threads reasons why marshals attend certain meetings and with certain clubs.
Logically, the MSA would collate all meeting requests from clubs and circuits and designate certain meetings as Grade 1. These might include the GP, WTCC, A1GP, 1000k, 24hours etc. Grade 2 might be BTCC, F3/GT, SCSA etc.
Their aim is then to avoid clashes. For instance you don't have a BTCC meeting at Rockingham on the same day as the GP. A sprint meeting at Goodwood or a race meeting at Knockhill on that weekend won't cause too many problems.
However, even if the allocation of races is perfect it doesn't mean that you will get a full allocation of marshals. We all do this as a hobby and that gives us the right to pick and choose. But, from a racing and marshalling point there needs to be a bit of planning in the way meetings are arranged so we don't have 10 meetings on the same day with the consequence that safety is compromised because of the lack of available marshals.

Yes, that's one weekend next year sorted already. This year's meeting was great with 50-odd cars (some of them were odd anyway!) so 80 would be even better.

That's one weekend booked, and added to today with the 10x 2006 SCSA dates, plus the GP (if invited)
