well said bill, drinking large amounts and then driving the next morning is unacceptable whether your driving on the road or a race track, at best your risking being excluded from the meeting, damaging the championship, bringing motorsport into disrpute but without doubt YOU ARE risking peoples lives. the organisers have eyes and ears and are prepared to take action against offenders, you have been warned! |

We are on this thread talking about minis.
But thanks for Graham's warning. Not needed!!! I was one of many people that left the kentagon at closeing time on sat eve. To put your minds at rest it is my view there was not one mini driver that was taking part in sundays race that would have been over the legal drink drive limit, by7.30am. People are known to have a laugh with out heavy drinking. |

you dont have to have a skin full to have a good time.
its not just whether someone is over the limit or not, but if people appear to be or post lots of stuf on here about drinking sessions what does it look like if theres a stunt the following day? personally i drink very little these days and as such i can be under the legal drink drive limit and unfit to drive, imho when talking about racing there should be ZERO alcohol or any other substances in the blood. ps this isnt aimed at the mini camp in particular, there are other culprits in the paddock, who obviously arnt aware of how bad the whole drinking/driving issue looks. i'll shut up now and you can go back to racing minis |

I drink very little/none really only at race meetings but not huge amounts as i still have to drive the next day and my license is important to my living. but personally i think the last meeting was the most enjoyable DMN Ive ever been too, shame about the poor chaps trailer, but this can happen anywhere as my mate came back to his mini once after a shopping trip to find it on its roof and people playing spin the bottle with it.
Anyway back to The mighty mini are they all ready for the weekend |

So, back on thread then... (that's rich coming from a self confessed thread hijacker))
is Sunday the last opportunity to race a Mini in the South East this year? As for next year, I see Lydden has a test day on March 14 - gives us a date to aim for with the Track day Mini Big D. I guess you had better have a go in that too Last edited by Cujo; 5 Nov 2008 at 12:58. |

Unless anybody knows better this weekend is the last race this year that us minis can compete in, what we need to do is arrange a tack day where we all attend and try out different settings etc. I think Brands run track days all year.

Amazingly Lydden has track days on Jan 17 and Feb 21st as well.
Might need those M&S tyres after all Brands is good though as you can take passengers, but I'm not sitting next to you Big D - I might get dizzy! |

Was also talking to the chap from Lydden the only reason you cant take out passengers at Lydden is the insurance is hell of a lot more and he says they want keep them cheap and good value which seems like a good idea to me

The work at Lydden is supposed to be completed before Christmas ( using the 'C' word there - sorry). That info was from Amy in Motorsport News, they're planning to run a couple of "winter series" rallycross meets in Jan and Feb so all work will have to be done by then.
Track days at Lydden are good value - lots of track time for the money |

January 3rd and February 7th for the rallycross - not sure on the classes they'll be running or what'll be there (entrylists usually appear a week before the event for rallycross).
