And we can and can't compare when they get to PLM and RoadATL either, just to muddy it up some more.

I'm just surprised and relieved that he didn't get caught up in another hit after he was back on the road. Good on him to get the car stopped fairly parallel to the track (if he had any input on that). That could have been more horrific than it already was.

In other news, Andy Meyrick and Guy Smith are having quite a go at each other over Twitter... as usual.

I think that Mosport brings up the point that more performance balancing is needed between the GT/LMPC/GTC cars, because all still have the same terminal velocities (Road America proved that, too). For that fact and the pro-am line ups in most, if not all, LMPC and GTC cars, I was surprised that the race was as clean as it was. Combine that with how narrow the track at Mosport is, that fact is all the more surprising.
I bring up the Pug drivers being impatient because of AD's actions at Le Mans (the Porsche curves--similar to the esses at RA--isn't the place to initiate a risky pass because of the narrow track and high speeds, and we gotta remember that Davidson beached his Pug after striking a GT2 Ferrari near the Esses at LM, too), and how many times has Montangney wadded up a car working traffic? He cost himself two good finishes in ALMS races in '08 (Mid Ohio and Road America) because he got impatient in traffic and he nearly cost Peugeot a podium at Spa because he again got impatient in traffic and wrecked the 908. Davidson I can understand because of inexpeirence, but Audi's new guys didn't have such problems at Spa and Le Mans. And for Montangny, he's been racing LMPs for 10-11 years! Plenty of time to sort out those bugs, but impatience in traffic seems to affect most open wheel drivers. Oddly, Allan McNish has mostly open wheel experience, but he's considered the absolute master in dealing with traffic effeicently and with a minimum of issues. So if you think that Mosport was nuts, wait until PLM, where Road Atlanta is almost as fast and narrow as Mosport, but with one in a half times as many cars! It's a deal of risk vs reward, and if you risk too much, you won't get the reward. |

I hope they keep up the good running at Petit and don't suffer from any mechanical problems. |

The worst thing about this whole deal is how bad the safety rails were at Mosport. The posts holding the rail looked like tree limbs cut down from local tree trimming. If my tree bark knowledge is correct it looked like Elm limbs! Not strong and prone to rotting.

AH, Just found this on ALMS website:
JC: "We had an incident with one of the GTC cars; a bit of a misunderstanding between the two of us. It's just unfortunate that the Porsche made contact with the barrier which damaged the barrier to the extent they had to red flag the race. Fortunately everyone is OK. We discussed it all and it's all sorted now." Speaking to a very experienced GT driver he made the point that a prototype at that speed is a very heavy car as it passes because of the downforce and so will hardly be affected whereas the GT is light at the front just there |

yeah, but posts braking can also turn the barrier into a spring, pushing the car back into the track and launching it in the air.
In this case, it didn't launch, but if you look here, you'll see the SEAT Leon was launched, back, into the ground and then into the air. Apparently the posts are/were rotten and broke. Not the first time this has happened at that (brands hatch) circuit IIRC Hines' accident could have been so much worse if that had happened, or if another car had clipped it. He's a very lucky boy |

Talking to the circuit repair guys the worry was a spectator path that ran along the straight. I am sure this track will get a more thorough insurance/FIA inspection as a result of this.
