The In Pit Lane Thread
For those outside Melbourne this will not mean much but I decided to start a thread so we can discuss the goings on on the Community TV program In Pit Lane each week. It did appear in replay on the Brisvegas equivelent channel a few years ago but I don't know if it still does.
Being a Community station the presentation isn't quite as slick as on the big budget commercial networks but this suits this sort of program anyway. IPL covers all sorts of local motorsport and is about the only way to see what happened at a Victorian State Round if you couldn't get there yourself. So to last nights program. I notice Brett Ramsey seems to have found the fountain of youth and has suddenly got younger Last night featured the usual local and international news and some great footage of the F5000's in NZ. Next week is a 30 minute special on the recent PI Historic meeting. |

I thought Brett announced last year (and the year before and I seem to recall the year before that as well) that In Pit Lane was finished because of a) lack of sponsorship and b) RMIT pulling the plug.
Or has it now become a quasi religious program? |

Isn't our following of motorsport religious? Or at least fanatical.

Who was that young presenter? He fills Brett's shoes very well.
It sounded as if Brett wrote the script for him to read! Or does he just share the same sense of humor? It was great to see the New Zealand Formula 5000 series race. I'm not sure that the programs tendency to continually put down top levels of motorsport is helpful though (mainly V8 Supercar). That was the first program I had watched all year. It's unfortunate that it still only available on an analog signal. The TV in the kitchen is the only one I can watch it on. Here's hoping that the Government funds the move to digital. Good on Brett and the team for keeping the program thriving. |

Great to see the F5000's running around PI last night.
I did especially like the statement in the credits at the end of the show which went along the lines of; "We'd like to thank the following sponsors" "Except we don't have any" If that blatant self promotion show "Gasolene" which was shown just before it can survive I think it's time for some Victorian based companies to get behind IPL to help keep it afloat, I hear Brett comes cheap |

Great to see IPL back on the air & fantastic to see coverage of the Phillip Island historics. After a few years looking at it black & white at my old place I can see it in colour again too!

Is anyone else having trouble with the latest podcast? I've downloaded it a couple of times, but the screen goes green about halfway through the interview with Klaus.

Speaking of uncles; any chance of me getting a column type gig on the show ( "comment from the Uncle"???? ) for an opinionated, egotistical, jaded, indifferent Melbourne Based motorsport Commentator ??? Or has that spot already been filled ???? P.S. I'll can bring a bottle of Stolle and some Pizza's every week as sponsorship..... . |
