Under special circumstances the first nominated driver can still be changed.
Quote:
Art. 43 - Conditions for the Participation of Drivers and Composition of the Crew

For each entry request, a competitor can nominate a provisional drivers line-up.
The nomination of at least one designated driver per entry request is mandatory (with a copy of the passport of this driver).
Once this driver is nominated by the competitor, he will only be able to be replaced after the Wednesday 1st February 2012, upon a written request explaining this change and subject to acceptance by the Sports Committee.
The nomination of the completed drivers’ team must be sent by email sport@lemans.org by Wednesday 9th May 2012 at the latest. After this date, it will not be possible to change the drivers line-up except upon a written request explaining this change and subject to acceptance by the Sports Committee.
Penalty: 5 000 € per driver designated over this date
Should a competitor have 2 selected cars, it will be possible to invert the designated drivers on the car of the same competitor.
The designated drivers by a competitor who is not admitted by the Selection Committee can be nominated on another car.
The reserve drivers are not admitted.

That's not completely true. At least it wasn't true last year. I think designated drivers can be moved around within a team and moved around otherwise with permission.

That's the 2011-spec car though, we still have to see any photos of the new 2012 version.

That link does not work, but yeah, the pug face certainly isn't as sharp as this, this, or this.

That may be intentional. The Muscle Milk car did not have it either. I don't think Highcroft's ARX-01e had it last year as well. The Strakka and RML P2 cars had it though. Perhaps Honda is only badging the P2 cars. Then again, L5's cars did not have a Honda badge at the test. Well, we'll see who is carrying what at the start of the year.

So true the ARX-01a/b headlights were my favorite modern sportscar fascia...they just looked so purposeful and aggressive in that they channeled Acura styling...I guess it wouldn't make much sense to do that anymore but certainly it's more pleasing to the eye than this! Though I agree, something about Strakka's livery makes it much less noticeable than with the Muscle Milk -03a.

According to crash.net http://www.crash.net/le+mans/news/17...le_tweaks.html

Quote:
The change will see only the highest finishing car in LMP1 score points for the manufacturers' title with teams only able to count their six best scores out of the eight races. Points scored in the Le Mans 24 Hours must be included in the total.
Chance for Toyota.

well, we all know the reason for this rule changing. BTW could someone tell me clearly what are the champs inside WEC? because ACO hasn't been clear at all explaining.

I know that there is:

lmp1 drivers cup: drivers champ for lmp1 class

lmp1 manufacter cup: champ reserved for manufacters (toyota and audi)

lmp1 best private team: team champ reserved for private lmp1 team (pescarolo, rebellion, oak, strakka and JRM)

lmp2 team champ: champ for lmp2 team (this mean that lmp2 won't have a driver champ?)

gt drivers cup: champ for gt drivers (there will be a different classification for pro class and am class ? )

gt manufacters cup: champ for ferrari, corvette and porsche brand without difference between pro and am class (this means that there won't be a team gt champ?)

(please correct me if i'm wrong)

I agree. The Acura ARX.01b is the most visually aggressive LMP i have ever seen. The wavy splitter adds a nice touch as well. The headlights where sharp and poised. When they changed to HPd it certainly was not as stylish.

Is it confirmed that this happens?
Because I have not read this info - just speculated myself on the option as the ACO was announcing "additional races to LMS" (Could be VdeV also...)

Thanks for posting. Hope to see some higher res shots soon. Interesting that they didn't go with a swan neck rear wing attachment.

Some high resolution pictures of the Lola B12/80 on http://endurance-info.com/version2/a...ance-9618.html

The new front is based on the nose that Rebellion used last year. I also rather like it.

Looks good altho I hope they will get bigger headlights eventually like on the rebellion p1. Those on the p2 look a bit too small
