At the risk of getting savaged by u no who, i would have to say the writing is on the wall for the old guard. Bargs wont be over here because he just loves kiwi's, so either Simon Evans is paying the chairman of NZV8's, good ole Inky, who i am told owns both Bargs and Evans car, a small fortune, or inkys just propping up the show with his two cars, otherwise there might only be 8 cars? Wonder what happened to the 105% rule? maybe the promotors have the right to waive that if does suit them?

I said it over in another forum but I'll repeat myself.

This year should (have been) a steller year for NZV8. With most of the fast guys sitting out new blood should be able to strike a blow and post decent results. Cars are cheap to buy.

Actually all classes looking undersubscribed esp Suzuki which really is entry level (if irrelevant). Blame the economy. Blame the competitors. Blame whoever. DON'T take any responsibility.

Foggy may yet prove that all you have to do some times is keep turning up to get a prize.

wouldn't it make more sense to wait a season and buy the new chassis.. rather than buying an old car?

So who of the 10 drivers/teams at Rupuna are going to buy a car at least in your expert opinion?

Maybe. But since all the bits bolt over (don't they?) why not buy at the bottom of the market and start learning your throttle control etc and dealing with the weight of the car. Or offer someone sweet FA to lease a chassis for this season. Any return is better than none when your car has no value next year. Thanks NZV8

just the brakes, pumps, tanks, seats, etc. you can also use the current engine and gearbox.. if you don't want to upgrade straight away to the new spec engine and gearbox.

A car they could use as is. A car they could use in in a support category for another class...

Yet you are certain they can afford a new chassis?

Hmmmmmm.

seriously wtf? lol

if someone was looking to join the class.. why waste money buying an old car (plus spares needed for the season) when that money could go towards a new car.

Because the new cars are not running this year. "Old" cars can still be run when the new ones are being implemented.

I just find it odd that whilst the mice are playing the fat cat's away playing racing drivers in Australia, like I mean isnt Inky the chairman of NZV8's? isnt NZV8's in crisis mode?

The first session times from the Glenn Seton/Greg Symes, Stuart Kostera/Inky Tulloch, Chaz Mostert/Nathan Morcom, Jim Pollicina/Dean Lillie, Cam Wilson/Peter Burnitt/David Wood and Dylan Thomas/Dale Thomas entries were good enough to retain the top eight positions at the end of the day.
The final grid order however will not be determined until teams officially nominate which driver will start the race tomorrow. Under the race’s regulations, the qualifying time set by the driver who starts the race determines the car’s grid position.

I wonder if you've ever waved your own cheque book at the sport?

You can buy an old car at the moment for much much less than the sum of its parts.
Some of them, you buy the MoTec and get the car free.

You can buy cheaper cars than Johnny Mac's Championship winner.

How ridiculous would that be? Have a couple average rounds at Puke and Ruapuna, then show up to Round 3 in a new jigger and blitz the field to get back in the hunt
