Whats Near Blackpool
I've just moved to Blackpool for the next eight months and am wondering whats nearest for marshaling and also whats still going this season?
Has to be within commuting distance on public transport as haven't got the car anymore so any help would be appreciated! Stuart |

All I can think of is Three Sisters circuit in Wigan - you'd need to get the train from Blackpool to Wigan and then onto the St Helens train to Bryn. Then it's about a mile walk I guess.

This is the hardest thing about our hobby! The only other suggestion is if there is someone living local to you who could pick you up!

I suspect 'rallying' is proabably the right answer, followed by Oulton and then... er, Kirkistown? If you have a boat.

The North West Stages is on Sat 16 Feb 2008. This event traditionaly uses the Prom - it is a bit of a drag race there and back, Pontins, Weeton and a couple of other locations near by. You can quite concievably marshal the opening prom stage and then get a tram down to Pontins!! - probably getting there quicker than by car. The event is an excellent season opener, can be chilly and quite a long day depending where you are, but the entry usually features 15 or so WRC and 6r4s driven by some of the top National Tarmac guys and a full entry. Check out the website www.nwstages.co.uk for more details and the contacts for the chief marshal.

I'm near Preston, but for most circuits Blackpool is the other direction for me. 3 sisters and Oulton are closest, no chance of public transport to Oulton tho

If you can get yourself to Preston then I'm sure Hepatic or myself could give you a lift to Oulton. There is a direct train from Blackpool to Preston and I only live 10 minutes from the station. Check out the timetable before next season and let us know. It would mean an early start but at least you'd get an hours sleep on the M6 (or not if your Hepatics passenger! )

Certaintly for the next few months, Rallying is your best bet, I dont know of any BRMC guys in blackpool, however there is a likely bunch of lunatics that go under the name of Fylde rally marshals, stick that into google and I am sure you will find some people who may be able to help with transport, look for the name Darren Fox, tell him I sent you.
There is lots of good stuff coming up, in the Lakes and North Wales in the next couple of months |
