promax has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
i don't think NZV8 should get in a ****ing match with st. they should just concentrate on their own backyard.. and make sure their cars are reliable.. and push their series as being more than just V8 holden are fords.. as a point of difference. if st want to push for having the fatest v8 touring cars.. let them! since they're never going to be on the same track at the same time.. it's hardly gonna matter.

I'm sure NZV8 must be delighted to know that you are utterly loyal to their brand. They just need more than 1999 other like minded souls per meeting to make it fly.

at the expense of the 30min gap between races for back-slapping and self gratification....................... nah, it'll never work.

What do crowds really want?

IMO they want the next race to be coming out of the pits while the last is just driving in,
that is just as important as what the cars actually are.

Nzv8s couldn't promote a bowel movement. They are flogging a dead horse.

The sooner you accept it as Clark proctor has and not going ahead with his deal.

Would you prefer the people you don't like to all leave so you can sit round in a circle and play a game with a biscuit?

Speedway is a format where the cars come out the gate as the last race is leaving.
Speedway is quite an entertaining night out and has a large fanbase

What it doesn't have is the big money. Or lots of TV

Top level circuit racing is a soap opera. The back story is intriguing.
Biff Bang Bosh Crash is just motorsport pornography

When you first view motor-racing you're right. It is just cars. But as you interest matures you learn that there are a myriad of factors influencing the outcome. The sucessful series world wide know that the sport is first and formost a human endevour. If the public can identify with the people they develop a greater level of engagement and loyalty.

Don't believe me? Explain team merchandising?
Certainly there is Red and Blue to satisfy the simply souls but which Red? Which Blue?

It is the people, it is the people, it is the people.

Since this is a discussion about NZV8's, maybe you could stick to discussing only that?

If you are so sure the ST formula is the be all and end all of touring car racing in NZ, and you are all so confident that you have vanquished the enemy which is NZV8, why the need for the purile attacks agaisnt those who see value in both series?
Or heaven forbid, those would actually rather see engines and body shapes from the same marque?

Hopefully the motorsport community can find enough funds for both series to work, just more V8 racing for us all to enjoy.

Exactly right. I was fortunate enough to go to the Monaco Historics this year. Why did we pack up at lunchtime on the Saturday? Because the pace of the meeting was so slow it was boring. About 40 minutes between any track action and a scheduled 2 hour lunch break.

Corralled into one stand and no paddock access, so no alternative viewing points. Just 7 race groups with a meeting format that stretched over 2 and half days, yet only one race for each race group.

The plus points are fantastic cars that are not limited to just 4 or 5 makes (Ford, Holden, Suzuki, Porsche etc) and some iconic one offs, but entertaining? No. Did it keep our interest? No.

Saturday night speedway is far more entertaining even though there may be a noticeable variety of makes/cars, but it is a great night and I'd watch there in preference to any Tier 1 meet or Super Tourer meeting.

Only a well run classic meeting where you are getting over 250 cars and a slick programme and with excellent viewing, at HD for example, is worth paying for.
