Nop, the order will be determined by drawing lots.

Both Schubert cars are already in because of previous VLN races.

One small correction: Huissman will qualify #11 and not Pilet.

Sunny day at the Nurburgring, and time for Top 40 qualifying! Official stream working normally too!

There were no live-pictures of the crash, but this caused the red flag with one minute remaining.

The driver was taken to the hospital after being recovered from the car.

I would assume it's not a good thing when the car itself is going faster than you are. Hahah, McLaren lost it's left front wheel while going around the prep lap before Top 40 qualifying.

The official stream now isn't geo-blocked, at least here in America: http://www.24h-rennen.de/en/live/

8:17.2! That's roughly a 6:14 Nordschleife time!

Not really, Trussers timed the 007 car to have gone out on the Nordschleife at around the 1:35-1:40 mark of the lap, so it's a 6:30-6:40 Nordschleife lap.

Im sure this has probably been cleared up before but what i dont quite understand is that the Manthey number 18 is a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Effectively a GTE car if im not mistaken (same car as run in WEC-Am and ALMS?

Surely it is then at an advantage over the mainly GT3 field?

Yet it isn't even classified as in the top in SP9 class but in SP7 with the Porsche Cup cars. Could anyone please clear me up on this?
(presumably with the drivers they have in it they are going for the win)

SP9 is for FIA GT3 cars.
SP1 to SP8 are for "VLN specials". The classes are divided upon engine displacement. SP7, where the RSR would run, is for 3.5 to 4.0L cars. GT2/E cars (along with GT3 for that matter) fit within the SP rules.

Cheers for the info

But i think my base question would then be isn't the Porsche GTE faster around the Nurburgring than their GT3? (or anyone else's GT3 for that matter?)

Sense would say so, but qualifying dosent seem to.

Not really, GT3 and GTE have had similar pace for a while, especially on good tyres (such as the Michelins in BES) but still comes down to whatever weights are imposed on the cars.

Thanks Speed-King, some good thinking there considering the amount of people who try and juggle their regular job with this race, the race wouldnt be the same without the amateurs.

Still feels a bit weird to me that a 24 hour race is starting Sunday late afternoon hah.

Because of the DTM drivers apparently, so they can get from Brands Hatch Sunday afternoon to the Nurburgring by Sunday evening apparently.

Though as far as i can tell only about 3/4 DTM drivers are actually taking part.
