Verstappen to represent The Netherlands

A surprise for me too, but Verstappen will represent The Netherlands in the A1GP Series for 2005/2006. Good to see him in a car again, let's see what he can in a field with all equal cars!

Verstappen and Lammers, for the pride of their nation

(July 28, 2005) Jos Verstappen, the Netherlands' most successful racing drivers, is to represent his country in motorsport after signing to drive for A1 Team Netherlands in the inaugural A1 Grand Prix series - the World Cup of Motorsport.

Jos, who has driven in many forms of motorsport from karts to Formula One, will be driving for the team run by another of his country's top racers, Jan Lammers. It was announced in November last year that Jan had become the Netherlands' A1GP Seat Holder and since then he has been working hard on forming the best possible team.

Great to have Verstappen back in a race car. (And I agree with Daisy: it's a big surprise)

I expected Donny Crevels, but this is even better news. Let's see what he can with equal cars.

The good thing this will do is along with Pizzonia & Lamy, he could incourage other top drivers to enter (a bit like what happend with Nissan world series). If the first few drivers signed up were all with little experience, then it would have been doubtful any F3+ level guys would have come in.
3 F1 drivers in already, I was expecting us to have 1 or 2 F3000 pilots at most.

Yes Jos would be the sensible option for the Dutch.
Maybe Albers or Doornbos could join next year if they fail to secure f1 drives...
