With only 2 cars they are already behind Audi and Porsche.

They are further back than 2013 and now with 6 cars ahead of them instead of 3.

Toyota's in a shocking state so far, basically everyone's wondering how it's possible that they're this far off.
Still a good 2 seconds slower than last year, just three seconds ahead of Rebellion..geez. Even if by some miracle they do have a flawless race this looks like a hopeless endeavor. I can't recall the last time a a major manufacturer has fallen so far behind over the course of just one winter. |

Do we actually have any idea what race pace is actually going to be?? Also it's meant to absolutely **** it down on Sunday so I wouldn't be ruling anyone out yet. |

And as far as rain goes, I would like to hope for that but TMG has been pretty terrible in rainy conditions so far. So yeah...they have a gigantic mountain to climb this weekend. |

TBH..Both Toyota's are within Two tenths of each other, which tells me that they were definitely pushing. I Want to be wong but i think this is Toyota's Ultimate pace. how on earth do you fall back 6 seconds?! and 2 seconds slower than the year before..There werent any drama at the Toyota camp either

It feels like they've been going backwards this year even. They were in an okayish state at Silverstone, Spa was a letdown and this is, so far, even worse...very, very odd.

Last year they found ~4 seconds from Q1 to Q3 so I only hope they can pull a rabbit out of the hat. |

This clearly can´t be due to having half the budget of Audi and Porsche, being so far behind. There must be other reasons for having such a huge deficit.Reasons yet unknown to me as for now. These hybrid-power regulations are in their early years, maybe they are not as tight as the A.C.O claim them to be.Just my thoughts here no conclusion.

If the six-seconds gap will persist they'll lose 80 seconds per stint!
That means they'll fall behind a lap every two and a half stints. This gap will be impossible to make up even with plenty of bad luck for the other cars, there's no way all six cars will be having problems of this magnitude. |

These days, if it rains hard, there will be immediate and extended safety car/slow zone, which won't necessarily benefit anyone. But light rain, then yeah, it could be interesting.

Hang on before the pitchforks are readied, Porsche won't be doing 3:16s come the race. The gap isn't quite as big as the time sheet suggests.
Having said that though Toyota are clearly third fastest, and crucially they aren't close enough that they can run reliably and hope for problems alone to get them to the podium - they will have to push as hard as they can and still hope for a litany of issues. Particularly worrying is that they haven't improved on last year's qualifying yet, given that the VAG bros have did so straight out of the box. Hopefully that will be corrected tomorrow evening. |

Toyota already said on RLM that they were not going for qualy times during the first seasion and they expect them to be around the 3:19-3:20 time when the sessions end. They are behind to be sure but i would not use todays session as a barometer for how far behind they truly are. Lots of overreactions in this thread imo.

Their PR sounds more enthusiastic than the "6 seconds behind" times show. No qualifying runs it seems. Which is in line with what Mike Conway said to RLM.
