I've definitely seen Robb racing in the FIAT Abarth championship a few years ago, so though he may be rusty, he's not 16 years out of the saddle.

Yes I did mean that. Should have made it more specific!

So anyone off to the media day? I will be, since thanks to inconvenient life schedule I'll have to miss the Donington Park, Rockingham and Silverstone rounds which I usually attend and it is always fun to get photos of cars which soon become history.

I was thinking the exact same thing!

Interesting to see more Steel Seal logos, they are proving to be quite the supporters of the BTCC at the moment.

Steel Seal is owned by the same people as Power Maxed.

does it look anything like the ones from the supposed livery competition?

I expect this car to be a constant presence in the last 2 rows of the grid !!

no real testing and driver who doesn't even know most tracks

I'm guessing that even if they have to 'forfeit' their licence for not getting the first driver to Brands, they will be first in line to get it back when they can secure a deal, unless another team has a car and driver ready to go.

Yes because it certainly looks like the finished final livery, doesn't it....

Seeing as this is their Facebook cover photo:

It probably got tweaked a bit for reasons of practicality/time to repair etc.

As for him and the teams pace, I don't see anything to back up your claims. I do see a VLN winning team and driver with a track record of developing Audis and racing at a high level. But of course, you're the expert.

I really hope we don't have to put up with a season of your negativity, this winter break has been pretty unbearable for all of us.

didn't I already say ??????

- team with no NGTC expereince and testing
- driver who doesn't know the tracks and didn't exactly set the track on fire in his previous outings !! Jake Hill by comparison did it

and some teams will be at the last 2 rows for sure, so far Rotek , Moffat and BTC Racing are looking to be it from the current list

GT and NGTC are totally different beasts , doing well in one category doesn't guarantee the same for other

Such a competitive grid this year, I think the lack of testing is going to be a real killer for some teams.

I was wondering why Glynn Geddie's Toyota was sponsorless, and how they were planning to fund running the car. Turns out Jim Geddie is a very prominent figure in the Scottish oil industry, so they won't have any issues with funding!

And have you seen his list of racing cars that he's previously owned driven? Very impressive. He has a few quid, but at least Glynn actually has some talent to back up the family money. I'm still confused as to how James Cole is funding his side of the garage.

As you say, Glynn and his Dad aren't exactly short of a few quid, and they've run some spectacular and expensive machinery over the last few years in various GT series. Have we seen the United cars fully-liveried yet? I'd assume that Apex Tubulars (the family business) would be appearing on the car, like it has most for most of the Geddies' GT racing

Re: Cole, I wonder if there's going to be a sponsor deal or two unveiled today?

United aren't the worst-funded team in the business either (IIRC team principal Zak Brown runs a motorsports marketing agency with a pretty heavyweight client list, so ought to know how to do a deal!), so could UA be subsidising their drives to some degree from sponsors they have an existing relationship with?

I wouldn't be all that surprised to see some of the names that regularly appear on their GT cars (Henderson Insurance, Viglen, Johnnie Walker etc) turn up on the BTCC cars at least as associate sponsors

Henderson has been on the car throughout testing. Most of Cole's backing is from the Drivecool campaign he fronts.
