Cosworth is also apparently working on the powerplant for Nissan's LMP1 entry next year. Cosworth isn't that big of a company so something doesn't add up.
I'm absolutely convinced that Cosworth and Ford will collaborate on a new indycar engine. |

If its only an engine supply , Ill be happy enough to hear something other than a Nissan P2 sound !!
Wish some American manufacturer would commit lock stock and 2 smoking barrels ..... the series needs a Yank in it . |

It's a pity there's no cross plane V8 sound in LM prototype category. Except in the LMPC.

So that means Cosworth isn't working on an LMP1 motor for Nissan? That was another rumour floating around because NISMO stated they wouldn't be doing the bulk of the engine work.

If Ford is collaborating with Cosworth on an IndyCar engine programme then it'll be in their best interest to develop an aerokit as well.

Sportscar/GT (and Le Mans) Rumours

Zytek? They have been in charge of the P2 and FR3.5 engines. They also have a hybrid system. Zytek has built hybrid P1 cars in the past. All Nissan would have to do is throw money at them. Last edited by GT3.14; 2 Jun 2014 at 18:10. |

I really hope Ford is building a LMP1 program.
I just cant see a Mustang racing 458s, Aston Martins, Corvettes, Vipers etc... Really want to see them announce a P1 program for '17 |

Use Nurburgring lap times as your "common sense" BOP range-finder. Ford doesn't have a car that fits in GT-Pro racing at the moment.
What company has the most to gain, the most to cut (excess), and the most $$$? I'd honestly say Honda over Ford, unless the Global Marketing Team at Ford has it's way. |

It's a strange post. Nothing makes any sense at the moment but Cosworth is definetly a hot topic . I guess it'll all become clear soon enough.

The only manufacture at the moment that is known to be working on a P1 at the moment who hasn't spin the story yet(denied) is Honda.
So will Mclaren-Honda P1 be the news at LM in two weeks? |

BMW has never denied anything, I have not seen anybody ask them about P1 to begin with.
Apparently the whole ACO press conference has been moved to race day just for that announcement. That does indeed seem like it is something huge, not just a new GTE car. As crazy as it sounds, my money is either on BMW or it is Ferrari after all. Imagine the impact that would have, them announcing their return just hours before the race... that would be crazy! Three or four years ago, such a scenario would be totally out of reach. These days, it's still unlikely but it has become slightly more probable. I guess that's a sign of the good times we're in right now |

The P1 project that is the closest to finish is Mclaren-Honda. They been working on it since early 2013(HPD even longer before Honda took it over).
Ferrari/BMW P1 is still in the side project and thinking and looking at it. |

When Porsche announced their return they had little to no info to reveal other than that they're returning, it was exciting enough as it was. The same would apply to Ferrari, the announcement as such would make headlines even if they have nothing to show for it. So theoretically, one of these companies could have made up their minds in recent weeks and announce it now. |

I don't quite understand why change the press conference (if even true) to saturday regardless of the size of the announcement. To maximixe attention wouldn't thursday/friday be better in any case?

Honda is also for me the most likest and I would prefer it. I don't think that BMW had something on board and Ferrari who knows. By the way Wirth Research ist working on a P1 since 2010. The question for me is how long is McLaren on the project and why should Honda not use a fully developed LMP1 ( the ARX-04a) |
