Ah right ok, thanks Alex. That might explain why Newman's car hasn't been seen out yet then!

The cars were almost driveable without PAS if they were using crossply tyres. But with radials they were much worse. So the pas arrived with the radials I think.

Dear Alex,
I meant the car is an ex Schnitzer one from 1986 which returned to BMW in Dec. 87. It is exhibited in a good many of events and very likely will not be raced again. I have the full history from that car somewhere, will post it at my return from US mid november ( have a race at Daytona with one of my Vipers .
Dear Vap,
Please send me an email at contact@artandrevs.com I'll forward you the pix from the tank.
I have quite a lot of records about Schnitzer cars.
All the best,
Florent

Xavier Lapeyre was always backed by Yacco. Could it be him?
Assuming this is an ex Gr.A chassis as well by the profile.

Hi,car is driven by Gerard Fevrot who was 13th at Dijon. The team is Dixi Sport who raced it in Group A trim the previous year in European Touring car events when it was white with yellow and black stripes. The car also raced at Superproduction French races in 1989 at Le Mans Bugatti/Paul Ricard/Magny Cours and Rouen.

Would anyone be able to identify the two 635s in this contemporary German advertisement?

The first one is the possibly the Diester Quester car which he shared with a number of guys and the second is definitely the Hans Stuck car which I believe he shared with Walter Brun?
Ian will be able to tell us much more I have no doubt..

Osterreichring 1983(from the Elan banner in the background,an Austrian company) .First car is Schnitzer,Quester/Winkelhock retired;second car is Schnitzer,Stuck/Brun 3rd,car is very dark blue backed by Eterna Watches. In case anybody is wondering why I have been 'missing',I have had heart bypass surgery and am now back to full health.Apologies to anyone who has mailed me and not had a reply,I will now try and catch up!!

Thanks for identifying that one Ian- Glad to hear you've made a full recovery after the heart op!
A couple of pics here in 1988 ETCC guise at Donington and Spa, in the yellow/black/white colours you described

Any idea of the origin of the car before Dixi Sport? 1988 seems pretty late in the day to be debuting a new-build 635 in the ETCC, so I'm guessing it had some prior race history? Dixi had been an Alfa team in 1987 IIRC

Hi KA,thanks for the best wishes.Yes it was a brand new car built(by Hartge) for the team which had run Alfas.Car debuted at Monza '88,ran most of the season in ETCC before switching to French Production.I also find it odd that they should think a brand new 635 would be competitive particularly having seen the M3 be so strong in its debut year.Maybe they got a good deal on a car which otherwise could have lain unused? Ian.
