I find it sad that me asking a simple question has caused so many problems, and as an outsider from another form of motorsport this has seriously put me off sprints and hillclimbs. Almost been made to feel unwelcome by some posts. You wouldn't find this in rallycross, almost everybody has the well being of each other, new competitors and the sport as a whole in mind!

Maybe i'll stick to rallycross then...
I'm now posting on my own behalf!

Speaking as a Clerk of the Course for sprinting, you couldn't be further from the truth. Sprinting is one of the friendliest activities in motorsport. When I was doing my training, one of the modules was "Disciplinary Procedures". I had to go to a race meeting to learn about disciplinary procedures because it is so rare at sprint meetings that we use the powers that are given to us. We much prefer a "quiet chat" to resolve issues.

The competitors I've come across over the years, both as a marshal and a Clerk, have to be the nicest bunch of people I've ever met. They are all extremely friendly and will always help each other out.

Please, do not give up the idea of hillclimbing and sprinting just because a couple of people on one thread have given you the wrong idea.

As I posted on behalf of the Chairman of BARC Midlands earlier today, please come and talk to us - if there are enough of you to warrant it, they will even start a separate class for you.

Sheila

Matt Dillon should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hr. Back in the dark dim distant past I used to sprint a Mk1 Escort Sport. Not competative but great fun. Its not the winning but the taking part. Go to a Hill Climb or Sprint and talk to the competitors, You'll get hooked like all of us.

David Walmsley should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
We are thinking of doing some hillclimbs with Tommi in the 106 at Harewood nr Leeds next year as well as rallycross. There is an event this weekend but I guess it may be too far just to watch.
Last year we did a sprint in the Junior mini and had a great day.

Got to agree with the crowd on this one!

I started Hillclimbing c5 years ago with no experience whatsoever. I have found all involved to be genuinely friendly and helpful.

I run in Sports Libre which gives "interesting" opposition!

The Championships I have entered are all well run, and as to entires, as they say "Get em in early and you stand a fair chance"
