Class of 2004. Any good?
It has been announced that Minardi has made Zsolt Baumgartner an offer to drive for the team in 2004. Zsolt came in at Jordan to replace Firman. He did a reasonable job, but didn't set the world on fire.
With Sato and Massa we welcome two drivers who failed to graduate from their debut years. Allthough I rate them both highly, fact is, this is their second chance in only their second full season. If Jos lands the Jordanseat, chances are he will be partnered by Ralph Firman, leaving sponsorless Heidfeld without a seat. Jaguar obviously needed to compromize their driverchoice on the base of money. Allthough the jury is still out and will be out for a while on Klien, it left Wilson without a seat. Again, Wilson couldn't raise the cash. One time worldchampion Jacques Villeneuve is forced out F1, allthough many still rate him highly. Maybe I'm jumping the conclusions here, but Wilson, Heidfeld and Villeneuve without a seat, while Verstappen, Firman and Baumgartner are likely to end up in F1 after all... They say money is the root of all evil, but looking at the class of 2004, they actually have a point. |

sato is excellent and he was still very good in 2001.
obviously i would have my own pick'n'mix for the line up (and i think anyone in the f3 forum would know a few drivers in my choice!) but i think its a better grid than 03 except for the loss of villeneuve which is a pathetic showing of how much an ******** dave richards is. but like i said, i love sato anyway so....! |

It's ironic to see the Williams driver pairing of 1997-98 out this way of F1.

Shuey SHOULD be made to drive for jordan with whom he broke a valid contract (oh,in case anyone doubts about the facts of that-about 1998? the court case was finallised and shuey found to be in the wrong.I think he had to pay $1mill to jordan) ..and coulthard should be made to drive for minardi AND find the sponsorship to buy the seat,LOL |

If Coulthard went to Minardi with a brace of Benz powerplants attached, its as good as a US$15m sponsorship deal anyway, not to have to pay for 3rd string Cosworths..
EDIT: And having read the article, the writer wasnt drunk, just pig ignorant Last edited by GTRMagic; 21 Dec 2003 at 07:57. |

Firstly who's to say that the remark was either about the Villeneuve aspect of the article on planet-f1 (it could have been about another of the choices). Secondly the article was clearly written tongue in cheek (see Alex Yoong and then the reason to have Alex Wurz). Drunk is a compliment to an amusing and interesting article IMHO. It would certainly shake up F1, it would certainly be interesting! Although I guess I wouldn't like all the changes Last edited by Adam43; 22 Dec 2003 at 20:12. |

sassy?, do you mean impudent or stylish.
That is the cross I bear for being reasonable and tolerant. (in my humble and arrogant opinion ) Last edited by Adam43; 23 Dec 2003 at 00:33. |
