Season 3 schedule
Dear All,
In the A1 Team NZL Fans newsletter it is stated that the season 3 schedule is almost finalised, and will be out at the end of this month. A 10 round schedule has been agreed with a possibility to add an 11th. A return to Taupo in January and Australia in February is almost certain. |

Nothing official yet, but I heard that the new calendar will be very much along the lines of Season 2.

Well, Zandvoort has been confirmed as the season opener, we know that much.
Brands Hatch and Durban should also be there given their strong crowds. Will be interesting to see if there are any new venues. |

Read today that A1GP have requested a change to the Taupo circuit to aid overtaking (tightening of the corner at the end of the back straight so that stronger braking is required), which further suggests Taupo is holding a round again.

The calender will be out in the next week, it is 11 races at the moment.
Zuhai instead of Bejing and there is a poss of adding a 12th at either usa/brazil/canada. There were rumours of a race in vallelunga instead of brno but it will stay as brno. |

That leaves very little time to fill in for the A1 schedule, see as they start in Europe in the end of Sept. |

They really need to do something better with the temporary stands next year that they got from China, because the average Kiwis rear end is twice the size of the ones they provided. Last edited by Armco Bender; 28 Jul 2007 at 23:26. |

Narain Kartikeyan has said in an interview that he will at least be driving for A1 Team India in the Zandvoort and Czech Republic rounds. So I guess round two is Brno again.
He also mentioned the team is being restructured and has a new seat holder. |

It's a shame. They still haven't managed to avoid clashing with events that are part of the main racing season.
The opening round clashes with the last round of British F3, for instance, whilst the last two events at Shanghai and Brands Hatch could clash with all manner of events yet to be announced. I like A1GP and it keeps me entertained during the winter months, but if they expect other established Championships to jump out of their way, it just ain't going to happen. |

I don't think A1GP can avoid clashes with other series, otherwise it would be a very short season. Besides they cannot avoid people scheduling events to conflict with A1GP, as Bernie is doing with his Asian GP2.
I think A1GP organisers would like it to gradually grow so that it is eventually second only to F1 in importance anyway, at which point drivers should choose it over established championships. |
