Since when has Corvette ever had a CF chassis? GT1 was steel and the GT2/GTE is aluminium.

Thought Mike Gausch fell out with MM after Sebring (or was it Long Beach)? Car was sold/leased out to one of the other PC teams (Merchant Services?) if IRC.

No, was just saying madness is not exclusive to NA. To be honest as much as I hate to admit it, this could potentially be the best thing that's happened to sportscar racing in the US for years, P1 and P2 in the US are basically dead. PC/DP, GT and Grand Am/GX would be a good series.

This news has turned my "holiday" from ten tenths into a very short break, I wonder if this is a true merger or just the ALMS folding ala Champ Car.

I agree. Wouldnt have been a good idea to continue with a failed concept. Or rather, to continue with something in which there is basically no interest in na (=lmp1/2)
