Muz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Formula Renault Times @ Brands

Is it me, or are the testing times from the reanults yesterday a bit unimpressive? The reason that I say this, is...

If you look at the qualifying from 24th August 2003, Hamilton had a pole time of 44.772 and the slowest time was 46.395. In fact 1st, 2nd & 3rd were all in the 44's (weather conditions roughly the same i.e partly cloudy / dry). In yesterdays test Conway set the pace at 44.712 and the slowest time was 47.354.

The reason that this seems strange to me, is the fact that the cars have slightly better BHP and a far more efficient aero package.

Was last years field particuarly competitive??

You've compared testing times with qualifying times.

last year yuya sakamoto managed to get a lap record in FFord. Ithink last year there was something with the level of grip on the track surface that made it a particularly quick weekend.

Was the 24th the champ car meeting or was that earlier in the year?

Just seems to happen sometimes in racing. One week a track will be really quick the next it wont be as quick. It was nice and warm last year at brands.

Didnt Sean McIntosh do well today, after having a few problems getting the car right at Knockhill, Sean and Andy Welch and the rest of team first air really pulled together and showed what they can do.Lets just hope Sean can do the rest tomorrow and get his first podium.

Pole was a 44.1, so despite the original post they are quicker than last year.

Lets hope Dan Clarke drives with a bit more circumspection than in his Formula Ford outings.

I thought he drove very maturely.

An impressive debut and all credit to him for it.
