A1GP Series on Australian FTA?????????????

There is only 8 days I am still not sure if A1GP will be shown on Australian FTA. I have emailed RPM and they keep telling me that Channel Ten will be showing the A1GP Series but I have heard nothing on Sports Tonight or RPM and A1GP is not listed on the Channel Ten broadcast schedule on the RPM site. I have heard that Channel Ten will be showing highlights a week after every race. Please tell me that I am wrong because that isn't good enough especially because they keep calling themselves Australia’s home of motor sport. Sure they may have a lot of Motor Sport on Channel Ten but there TV coverage is crap!

So will A1GP be on Australian FTA?????????????

I belive that is the case, it was announced in MNews a long long time ago. I think the deal is we get it a week or two after or something where as Foxtel gets it live on the day.

Well Channel 10 have the highlights package. Im unsure whether they will get to show the whole race like Foxtel does with the V8 Supercars. I think its just a highlights package and thats what ive read been told so far.

simply put if you want certain stuff you just have to pay for it.

I dont know if you can or dont want to know for that matter but simply put motorsport is not the be all and end all of TV stations (much to our annoyment).

I sugeest you either bite the bullet and get Pay TV or shut up about it mate because no matter how much you jump up and down nothing is going to change in this country , we are a nation of berr swilling Footy , cricket loving boofons and thats just the way it is so i suggest you just deal with it

or do what iconic says and find somewhere to download it but DONT mention it here on ten tenths

Hey nothing wrong with footy (Mighty Hawks) or watching the cricket. Just what's wrong is the media's undivided attention to the two when they are on. In AFL's case well 65% of the year. The A1GP thing might spark some media interest from the local papers, and i have a funny feeling the average person might know more about A1GP but wont really know drivers names like they do Michael Schumacher.

This is an email I recieved from RPM

Hi Mark,

Yes we will be covering the A1 Grand Prix series, and our telecasts of A1
series begin's on Sunday 2nd October at 1:30pm with the first race from Brands
Hatch.

Check out RPM this Sunday from 3:30pm when we look at the Australian driver line up.

Our telecasts of A1 will be highlights aired approximately 1 week after each
race.

If you have access to a big satellite dish you can watch A1GP FTA on
Global Tv "http://www.globaltv.co.id" on Palapa C2 ( 4080 H - 28125-3/4) they also have live coverage
to F1 with english commentary from ITV . not sure about the broadcasting language of A1GP though. .

Another FTA satellite channel on "Star Sports Asia" on Asiasat 3
( 3960 H,26850-7/8)
with full converage to the A1GP Qualifying sprint race and the feature race.
And they aslo have F1.
if you are serious about the sport you should invest some money.

* Subscribe to pay tv.
* install a satellite dish.
* Video over IP,if you know someone with access to foxtel and broadband .
* move to another country wich provide FTA.

Oaksnaff, do you feel like dispensing some more of this charitable largess? Waiting a week for a highlights package is just lemon juice in a paper cut!

The only problem with this is that there are still a LOT of pockets in capital cities without access to pay TV. eg where I am, in the hills around Mt Dandenong in Melbourne, no OPtus, no Foxtel and, because we are classified as 'metro area' no satellite pay-tv either. Yet 3 km down the road in The Gully - they have a choice Tel$tra or Optus cable. (I won't mention Foxtels exhorbitant prices though!)

Plus there are still a number of metro councils who refuse to allow cabling in case it scares of the yellow-tipped, hairy nosed pigeons that are indiginous to the Northern Territory but have been imported to their area.
