Misubishi Lancer Evo

I'm in the process of selling my old Sapphire Cosworth to make way for either an Evo 5 or 6. I wondered if anybody either owns or has had any experience with these cars and can offer any advice.

Barry, go to the owner's club websites. The Evo websites run by a guy in Aylesbury, full of info. You think this board's crazy ....

Whoops just noticed spelling mistake! Oh well you can't really expect a science teacher to spell correctly.
Should be MITSUBISHI. I have had a look at the Lancer Register site, do you know of any others?

My IT teacher has a Evo 6, he had a Subaru impretsa estate and told his girlfriend that he wanted an EVO,
she put her foot down and said if you get an Evo i leave, he got the Evo, wise man.

I bought an EVO and it is one hell of a car. Definitely worth buying.

I loved my Evo VI TM. Just too buzzy for the autobahn. Perfect anywhere else! Super car!

BOO! HISS!

The enemy! As a driver and enthusiast of Subarus, I can't see me ever buying a Mitsu Evo. Buy yourself a nice Impreza STi instead, or (even better) a P1 - you know you want to!

Actually I'd love a go in an Evo to see how it compares. They are awesome cars. I guess alot of it is down to taste, but if you're not particularly biased either way (like me!), then try an Impreza too.

As "evolution" models, I guess I don't need to say the Evo VI is almost certainly better than the Evo V. Down to your budget really - a really nice V might be a better buy than a ragged VI.

There is a pretty large and active Mitsubishi Lancer owners club that encompasses everything from the latest Evo's to the 80s Lancer Turbos and Starions. Worth checking them out for advice, cars/parts for sale, meets and track days...

I prefer their old rival the Escort Cossie

I was looking on the Autotrader website the other day and found a GroupN rally car for £10k - should be road legal too. mint production cars up to £27k still and a WRC car for 90k.

I have bought a stolen/recovered Evo 6 a few weeks ago, the car was minus engine and box, which has now been purchased, and is currently down at Promax Motorsport being put back together. Fortunately my old Sapphire Cossie (320 bhp) was sold tonight so I can just about afford to pay the insurance on the Evo. I had a potential purchaser come to look at the Cossie the other day and after a visual inspection I asked him if he would like to drive it, he replied it was fine by him for me to drive as he just wanted to see that the gearbox and brakes etc were good. We set off at a fair pace and gradually got faster (I have driven single seater race cars for many years and am also a qualified ARDS instructor) so it was time to impress the punter, after hammering round several Milton Keynes roundabouts on opposite lock I thought I had better check if he was OK being driven at speed. He replied " It's OK you won't frighten me, I am a traffic officer and the Cleveland High Speed Pursuit instructor" !!!! Whoops!!!

"Right, I'll buy the car then - you won't be needing it for a while!"

Did he teach you any new tricks?!
