A1GP Silverstone Test

There's a lot of PR about the Silvesrtone test this week on www.a1gp.com.

Just thought I'd let you know that Silverstone have confirmed they will permit (free) public access to the test this week (30/31 Aug). For those familiar with the F1 testing accesses, you will be permitted to view from the usual spots between the Main Entrance and Luffield Corner.

Actually what most of us would find really useful is if A1GP actually announced who is testing. The lack of information by the organisers is poor and certainly adds to the growing speculation regarding how many teams will actually be taking part this season.

From the press release I've got there will be at least 20 cars. I'll be there Wednesday, I can put some photos up afterwards.

This list is based on one posted by Kiwi3 in another thread. I don't think all the drivers named will be testing at Silverstone, but there are 20 countries on the list, so that may well be right.

I'm not sure how much testing there is after this before the first race, so I don't think a serious team would want to miss the next couple of days.

Team Australia: Karl Reinhardt;
Team Brazil: Tuka Rocha; Nelson Piquet Jr, Bruno Senna;
Team Canada: Sean McIntosh, James Hinchliffe;
Team Czech Republic: TBC.
Team China: Cheng Congfu;
Team France: Nicolas Lapierre, Alex Prémat;
Team Germany: Nico Hulkenberg, Michael Ammermüller;
Team GBR: Robbie Kerr, Darren Manning, Oliver Jarvis;
Team Holland: Jos Verstappen;
Team Indonesia: Ananda Mikola, Moreno Soeprato;
Team Ireland: Michael Devaney;
Team Italy: Michele Rugolo, M. Gatto, A. Pieguidi, D. Valsechi;
Team Lebanon: Graham Rahal, Basil Shaaban;
Team Malaysia: Alex Yoong, Fairuz Fauzy, Nik Iruwan, Aaron Lim;
Team Mexico: Salvador Duran;
Team New Zealand: Chris van der Drift, Jonny Reid;
Team Pakistan: Adam Khan;

I'd expect a busy day - the last four press releases on the A1GP website are about the test. These are drivers expected to be testing from those releases - obviously who races could be different:
Malaysia - Yoong and Fauzy will be sharing testing duties
Team GB - Kerr, Manning and Jarvis all expected to be testing
Canada - McIntosh and Hinchcliffe
Indonesia - Mikola and Soeprato

The releases do state that they expect most of the teams to be out there, so there will be more cars than just those few - but this start to answer the question about who will be actually driving next week.

Does anyone know where Kiwi found this information as on A1GP there are only 4 teams listed as confirmed for testing?

If it isn't on the series site or the sites of the individual teams it isn't exactly encouraging me to go to testing.

The tests are tommorow and there is no official entrylist in the a1gp site.
I don't think that they don't know who will test!

There was a story on autosport web site a few days ago, however that lists relates to entries for the season not who will be driving at the test.

Team New Zealand will have three drivers at the test, Chris Van der Drift, Johnny Reid and Wade Cunningham, former World Karting champion and reigning Infiniti Pro Series champion. The article I got this information from states that there will be 20 cars at the test.

MickAU has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
That's Karl Reindler, not Reinhardt for Australia - races in the British F3 Championships, former Australian F3 Champion

It is indeed Al Unser Jr; A1 USA entered him for this year's Indy 500 as well.

I disagree, it would be a step back to have someone well past it in the series. there are plenty of stars already, remember USA started with Scott Speed last year.

Nico Hilkenberg (who he?)
Drives in the German F3 championship (not the Euro series, just the domestic one).

Autosport has published another list of who will be there (still with spelling errors):

Raphael Matos, Rubens Carrapatoso
Canada Sean McIntosh, James Hinchcliffe
China Congfu Cheng
Czech Republic Janis Jaroslav, Jan Charouz
France Alexandre Premat, Nicolas Lapierre
Germany Nico Hulkenberg, Michael Ammermuller
GBR Robbie Kerr, Darren Manning, Oliver Jarvis
Indonesia Ananda Mikola, Moreno Soeprapto
Ireland Michael Devaney, Patrick Hogan
Italy Gian Maria Gabbiani, Michele Rugolo,
Manuele Gatto, Alessandro Pierguidi, Davide Valsecchi
Lebanon Graham Rahal, Basil Shaaban
Malaysia Alex Yoong, Fairuz Fauzy, Nick Iruwan, Aaron Lin
Mexico Salvador Duran, Mario Dominguez

Pakistan Adam Khan
South Africa Tomas Scheckter, Stephen Simpson,

Any Australians here that can tell us who Ian Dyk is? I was hoping to see Ryan Briscoe.

A1 press release says Fauzy set the quickest time followed by Lapierre; guess there was probably a bit of driver rotation going on today.
