Salo out at PKR?!

From Champweb......so take it for what it's worth!

Salo Out at PK posted on 02-16 15:15

According to Finnish TV reports, Mika Salo is said to be out at PK Racing. Salo is in negotiations with several other teams and is said will have his plans finalized by the Long Beach Sneak Peak.

Hey Dov,
that story comes from the same college kids in Turku, Finland who two weeks ago announced that Bjorn Wirdheim had signed on with Jaguar ?!

It completely doesn't make any sense especially since Salo is a very good friend with Pollock and that's how he got this ride to begin with ?!

Check my updated line-up = http://www.planet.nl/~f1/cart2k4.htm

IMO it would be pretty stupid to let Salo go. Fingers crossed that if he doesn't stay at PKR that he gets a decent ride with another CART team.

Actually the Wirdheim rumor came out of Sweden, so that has nothing to do with any college boys in Finland. Whether that rumor turns out to be true remains to be seen.

As for Salo, even if he loses out at PKR he still has two months to find another ride. I am sure he can give Mo Nunn a call, as not too long ago I recall someone confirming as fact (which was later changed to just a "rumor") that Nunn as fielding 2 cars in CCWS.

From what I've heard it was Mika, not Craig, who made the decision to move on. Could it be that a team like Rocketsports is after his services? It's still a rumour, but it would be a blow for PK, unless they have an experienced guy like Vasser lined up as replacement (perhaps with Lavin in the second, pay-driven, car?)

Thanks for the updated lineup zerO. I like the optimism. I hope to see more than 20 cars on the grid at Long Beach.

Ouch. Are PG and KK not partners? One would raid the others stable?

They are partners in running the series, but the teams are competitors.

I don't know, but these news said Salo getting an offer from 'top team, capable of winning championships', and what are these teams? In my mind there's three: Forsyth, Newman-Haas and Rahal.

I'd add Rocketsports and Herdez to that list.

Verrrrrry funny... we're turning to be a comedian now, heh ?!

BTW, Bjorn Wirdheim at Jaguar has been announced today... and the Mo Nunn thingy I started at the 7G forum for certain personal reasons - never myself believed that Mo will come over - you've never seen Mo Nunn on my personal page, have you ?!...

With KK busy running the series I would tend to think he would want someone else to run his team.

But it wouldn't surprise me to see Pollock link up with PG either.
