Total Excellium Formula Ford Northsea Cup
Yesterday, we concluded the Total Excellium Formula Ford Northsea Cup, two joint meetings between the Dutch and French FF championships and it was a tremendous succes.
Both at Dijon (late august) and Zandvoort (last weekend) we had grids of 30+ cars, racing that made your jaw drop and, whats more, a fantastic response from crowds, press and drivers. In the end the cup, a mini championship decided over those 4 races, was won by Julien Schell AND David Caussanel, followed by Dennis Retera who lost the cup trough a tyre failure. At Dijon the cars reach 150 mph and slipstream indy-style which gave so many overtaking and ensured that the leaders could not break away. At Zandvoort we had breakthrough victories and fantastic maneuvres. The tyre failure in race 1 gave Retera a lowly 22nd starting possition but he put in an epic performance and WON it by 2 seconds, sealing the Benelux title and recovering to third in the cup standings. This two weekends have given us all a new boost. Even I wasn't sure that Formula Ford could survive but regardless of what happens next year in the UK, we have forged a very strong bond in mainland of europe as two championships averaging around 20 cars have found each other!![IMG][/IMG] |

Well done Nelson, good to see our European neighbours putting the effort in. Next year you should try and get the Brits and Scandinavians involved as well.
Hope you guys bring a big crowd to Brands for the Festival. |

Thanks, it took a while to get it organised and believe me, the French are a strange bunch but we pulled it off. For next year we hope to do this again, maybe on three occassions with the French and we hope to bring in the Swedes to. Working with the British is sometimes difficult because crossing that damned channel is so expensive but every opportunity will be sought.
You as a guest team are obviously always welcome. As for the Festival, we'll be there with 2 cars, an 05 and an 04 and im hoping that around 6 benelux drivers will come. Formula Ford proved these weeks that is has a right to stay. |

The funny thing with Formula Ford in France and Holland is that combined we can get 40 odd cars of which 90 percent is mygale and in sweden most of them are van diemen. funny to see how different fields can be.

Message to the mods,
Please dont put this in the Club Formula Ford section. This is not a club championship it clearly deserves to be in the National and International section. |

I have doubts about that for now, but there is a solid base to work from, now we've got to convince those pesky teenagers to not get into a car with wings

Nelson - I am not sure if you know - but the Walter Hayes Trophy is also hosting a Zetec section this year....in a mini-festival format. Testing Friday, racing Sat-Sun. Details are on the BRDC website....

Let's hope both of them will get good grids, the Festival and the Walter Hayes.
For me one thing is assured. If Dennis can keep this form, he is possibly the quickest driver at Brands Hatch. He has grown enormously this season and last weekend showed that once again. These are our two of our five drivers together with my dad, retera on the left, stuart on the right. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

Good to read all this Geva, shame it wasn't properly advertised. It would have been lots more fun to see the Fords at Zandvoort than those smelly trucks at Zolder.

Promotional activities lie in the hands of the NAV and the circuit, but rest assured Eddy, if all is well, we'll be bringing this grid to zolder and spa next year as we have a couple of belgians coming in aswell.

Ah, about time FF comes back to Belgium.
Prefer the 1600's however. Good thing I see them so often in the UK. Keep up the good work. |
