Le Mans '07

Well it's almost time for the 75th running of the Le Mans 24hr!

So, who is heading to marshal at this legendary event? Where are are you posted and who are you rooting for!?

Both myself and my better half (Jennifer_NI) have put in for Poste 19 ,tetre rouge, for our second visit after an incredible 2006 race marshalling poste 63 at the second chicane!

And although my head knows that Audi will most likley win I'll still be shouting for Pescarolo!

Well, I plan to be there, I think this is my 10th year on 106.
This year I'm showing some young Irish lad and his better half the road down.

BTW Hollywood, multimap shows Holyhead to casa Bodysnatcher as just over 300 miles, requiring about 5 hours driving time.

Going as a spectator. It's my first visit and, although I would love to marshal, I would like to see more than one post! Hope to see a lot of you guys there.

I'm there once again, along with Bodysnatcher and others from the UK on poste 106. Eight nationalities on one post - does wonders for European integration.

And have you ever heard a Scotsman speaking German to a Hungarian at 2AM in the morning? I have, at the post's marshal party on the Friday night, and I was unable to verify if much alcohol was involved as I was a bit of a state myself!!!!!!!

5 weeks time and I'll be there!

Cheers

Steve

Bill & I will also be at Poste 70. And if you want to come to visit - its the one between the Mulsanne Kink and the Mulsanne Corner (where the old "hump" used to be). Get to us through the infield.

Out of interest, has anyone actually received confirmation of postings etc from the ACO as yet?

Oh and I was actually on poste 61 last year not 63!

Not had any confirmation from the ACO as yet, but the team listings for those on Post 70 are on the Le Mans Post 70 website (autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lemanspost70/) - seems that we've drawn Team 3 again. We also, haven't heard anything for the Practice session at the start of June as yet.

I am looking at the possibility of Marshaling the 24 Hour next year, how do you apply? I have always wanted to go and watch the race, but to be there as a Marshal would be absolutely brilliant.

If you are not aware there will be a gathering of 10/10ths members in the village on the Saturday lunchtime. The final details are yet to be confirmed but it normally about 12pm in the main square and some our French members normally bring along a bottle of vino. If you can make it you are more then welcome to join use.

If you apply to the MSA to marshal abroad, and then tick the box at the bottom of the form, they will pass your details on to the ACO for marshaling at Le Mans

Spoke to my Post Chief last night and he advises ACO have not yet mailed out confirmation letters. Seems there's a bit of a backlog of work due to recent running of 24 Hrs Moto (bikes)

Stack,
Those who have marshalled abroad before (at Le Mans) usually get a letter at the end of the season for marshalling again the next year. It would be best to send off for a request to marshal overseas at the end of the preceding season. Someone else may be able to clarify this. The best person to speak to is Allan Dean-Lewis MBE, Head of External Affairs at the MSA.

Last year my post allocation/invitation from the ACO was dated 22 Mai and postmarked 26th; so we may have a few days to wait yet.
