Morris 1100 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I once sat at a set of traffic lights in Penrith (the crossing in front of the Plaza) and a young bloke pulled up along side of me in a Toyota Celica. He was sitting there giving his engine a few blips on the loud pedal, so I gave the truck a couple of revs, he looked up at me and grinned at me and gave a few bigger revs so I gave the truck a big rev and dropped the clutch, so he took off as well, I pushed the clutch in and stopped after about two feet and he drove through the red light with his tyres smoking! He was nearly through the lights when he realised what he had done!

One trick my father old me about-
When a police officer is following and you are coming to an intersection use the handbrake to stop. The officer will pull you over for taillights that do not work. Once he asks you to press the brake to be sure they aren't working, use the normal brake! He'll have some look on his face!

5 or 10 miles an hour under the speed limit when there is alot of traffic coming the other way.

Varying speeds for no reason at all

Related to first one - do 40 in a sixty zone then doing 40 in the 30 zone and wanting you to hurry up even though you only just over took them without even breaking the speed limit

People who speed up when you try to overtake them

People who pull out on my left at a round about because they assume I will be slowing for it - I do if I can't see but the round about this often happens at is surronded by 1 mile of flat grass in 3 directions and the other exit is one way - away from the round about!

People who drive close and over the white line and think it will bother me, if I am at the limit I stay there and you will not get passed me unless you try very hard and no flashing you lights will not help you only get a face full of fog light (very useful trick that!)

Oh and not quite on the road but if you that **** who was on there mobile in the petrol station and was told to get off hung up waited for me to walk away then got out the car and sent a text the answered another call then especially you. As I said go and fuel someone else if you can not a) listen to what you are told by staff b) read the notices

All those who drive while talking on their mobiles and then drive into a petrol forecourt - you where breaking the law before and you still are so stop it there are literally 10s' of thousands of litres of petrol around and you do not know if there is an unknown leak and/or someone has spilt petrol earlier

No tax disc in site - no fuel same goes from damaged/missing number plates.

Oh lastly for good measure- bikers - take off your helmets because we need to see who you are, it's not that we do not trust most of you it is a fact thought that bikers often ride off and a photo ID of a fake number plate and a helmet is no good to police!

Right sorry slightly off topic but it was on my chest! Now I can sleep!

I was on a long drive last year when I passed a Toyota Camry (Chariot of choice for the elderley and dull in Australia). The elderly driver was leaning well back in his reclined seat and had a pillow tucked behind his head for extra comfort!

Get that comfy and you WILL go to sleep!

Driving through the massif central in France years ago in an old sportscar I was overtaken round a hairpin by some ancient Renault towing a caravan. The man drove like a man possessed down the mountain and because he did not have the acceleration to overtake on the straights he simply outbraked other cars /lorries etc into hairpins and drove round the outside/inside.

I suspect that wasn't entirely intentional. I reckon he'd fried his brakes on the way up...!!

Just had someone completely ignore a red light on my way home from work.

The driver swerved to avoid pedestrians.. and had the cheek to stick HIS fingers up at them... for daring to use the crossing with a green man!

That happened to my mum and I a couple weeks ago - we were crossing over at some lights when some guy who was parked on the white zig-zags just zoomed off across the oncoming lane and through the red light - had the presence of mind to apologise through his open window as the flared wheelarches of his cheap Japanese Escort XR3i rip-off took our kneecaps with him.

My girlfriend got a lift with a colleague, who ONLY uses the handbrake to slow down.. When asked why, the serious answer given was incredible... "I learned to drive in a manual". My girlfriend won't tell me the name of the person, but I want to get the police on the trail, as that must be the dumbest I have ever heard. And to think, the person who taught her must be just as bad...

But have you heard that there are NO RECORDED INCIDENTS of a mobile phone causing a fire in a petrol station? I have heard that the real reason for the ban is the fear that the mobile phone will interfere with the reading of the pumps, causing possible undercharging.

Somehow I find this alternative more believable.

If you have proof there is absolutly no risk then tell the health and safety executive, until then follow the rules.

Those who do not follow simple instructions asked for by members of staff have shown that they are not to be trusted and thus should a more serious event be occuring in terms of breach of rules or emergency situation I not longer have the faith in this person.

A phone call is not a need, it is a want, and if a person is unable to wait 5 minutes to receive the call then they will need to learn patience.

As for the claim it affects the pumps well have no idea but rumours are rumours and it might well over charge you as well, bet you would complain then!

As for "NO RECORDED INCIDENTS" - so what? Remember if you ARE WRONG YOU WILL COULD KILL PEOPLE. This is not a "do not step on the grass sign!"

If you have scientific research that shows mobiles affect pumps fine but they do not affect any other computers. I'm sure a strong magnet might do the trick! The counter in internal and behind metal plating and you can not do it after because it has a live link to the screens so we can see what is happening.

I was walking to work one day when some clown in a large Australian sedan (no doubt a fleet/company car), came screaming up to the intersection I was about to cross. This driver's attempt at late braking failed a little as he found himself stopping about half a car length beyond the stop sign. I chose to walk around the rear of his car and not the front because I just didn't trust that he would actually give way to me, a humble pedestrian.

When walking behind the car I could see the possible reason for his driving. His laptop was open and switched on, resting on the console. And no he wasn't tuning his Motec or anything similar. He had an Excel spreadsheet open and was manipulating the contents.

No a mobile phone actually set off an explosive fire at the gas station next to our offices here in Colorado. The guy was filling up a gas can for a lawn mower or somethin and the static electricity given off by the phone sparked the fire. I saw the immediate aftermath, not pretty.

A show on discovery channel called Mythbusters actually made a concerted effort to start a fire with a mobile phone and had no success

I know have a new dumbest thign:

Our shop truck is a manual as is any good truck or car andit is used for all manner of thigns from getting gas on up...well a new employee was assigned to get gas, asked the requisite question: "do you drive stick" responded in the affirmative and was left to go do his thing...he called the office 15 minutes later and said he was outside...we go outside expecting him to be back with the gas and just being lazy about getting it out, we where wrong...he was sitting there and hadn't gone anywhere...he said there was something wrong with the transmission,so ****ed i jump in and spin it around the building no problem...15 minutes later after we go inside we come back out to find him still sitting there. He says "i can't get it in gear unless i push in the emergency brake (raised eyebrow from us) and then it just jumps a bunch and the engine suts itself off...turns out upon investigation (aka giving him a hard time about it) that he has never actually driven a manual however his dad owned one of the toyota mr2's with the new smg manual transmission (toyotas paddle shifters) which in response to much laughter he gave the arguement that it was a real manual transmission (and I quote) "why would they call it a manual if it wasn't really a manual" (smg stands for sequential manual gearbox in case you cared)

Doing that is bad enough, in a camry is just plain irresponsible.

The most stupid / dangerous thing I've ever seen is people slowing down to look at accidents on the over side of the motorway. I nearly had four accidents on the M6 last week because of idiots hitting the anchors so that they could have a good gawp at wrecks that were 40 feet away from them. Be warned - next time I'm on the motorway I'm going to fit a shovel blade to the car.

The AU Falcon actually had an option of a little desk to go over the centre console/trans selector, it's just asking people to play with a laptop while driving.
