Heard this on the weekend and it was confirmed by TQ. AA has a story on it in this week's issue (out today).

There are a lot of former competitors that will be pleased with this. I know a few that could be interested in getting back in it with the Wards out of the picture.

Good ridance

Irrespective of what happened politically, you have to remember that Phil Ward was the man who got the category going, and judging by the huge grids year in and year out, has done a pretty damn good job.

The Quinn's have a hard act to follow

Each to his own opinion methinks. Some have had personal dealings and been less than enthused as a result.

We should celebrate the convergence of the Quinn Motorsport Future, of combining the Australian GT Series with the Aussie Race Cars, and from all accounts, maybe some more too.

Lets see what happens next....

And what happens to all these categories if Mr Quinn does a Ross Palmer?

Depends if the end game is to hang onto them, or to hand them to CAMS to operate in the longer term....

And what happens if Mr Quinn doesnt do a Ross Palmer and the classes flourish under the control of a savvy businessman who loves the sport so much he is willing to invest his own time, money & resources into it, for the benefit of all ?

(And dont forget part of Ross Palmer's downfall was medically related)

Was there ever an IP dispute with the founder of the Thunderdome Legends cars which have long been held to be the inspiration for the Aussie Racing Cars machines?

Of course the Aussie version of the Legends was just an American import.

Knackers is right, (how did I just admit that publicly )
Bob Jane stole the idea about running Legends around the 'D' from 'Humpy' Wheeler at Charlotte.
(just like the Musco Lights too )

I wonder if new management will bring in new manufacturers rather than the monopoly that wards had. Maybe a Hyundai ARC car for 2013!

There's only one "manufacturer" - Aussie Racing Cars. or do you mean new body styles? Would be nice to see an update to the aging AU Falcon shell.

VE Commodore
FG Falcon
Nissan Altima?
Chrysler 300C?
Audi A4?
BMW 3 series?
Merc C Class?

There is a couple of differences:

* one keeps the crowd interested with their shinanigans, the other is V8's
* one does some good racing without interference from race control, the other is V8's
* One is fighting back new entrants, the other is V8's

Do I need to go on?

Is there any truth to the allegations that the UCUs were tweaked to handicap the 'hares' and help the 'tortoises' (not mentioning any names, like the prodigiously talented Hayley Swanson)?

No, quite the opposite, the drivers with the biggest budgets or those able to introduce new commercial "partners" to the Creator allegedly seemed to get mysteriously fast engines.
