Kyle Petty Retiring
I was reading Jayski's site this morning and they had a report that Kyle Petty is retiring at some point this season. Shane Hmiel who is looking to be reinstated after his failure to pass a drug test last year is rumoured to be his replacement. If this happens it will be the first time since the start of NASCAR stock car racing that there won't be a member of the Petty family racing.

Petty enterprises is denying the rumour that Kyle Petty is retiring this year. But after Petty Enterprises last few years you almost have to wonder. I think they could be competitive again if they would fined some different engines.

I'm not sure its just the engines. I suspect the cars don't have much grip either.
I don't think Kyle's heart has been in his driving since his sons death so perhaps retirement is the best option. |

Yeah I think Adam's death had a large impact on Kyle's preformance. After his performance in 2002 he actually seemed to be enjoying racing again, but with all the problems last year that seems to have changed again. I still attribute alot of the problems to engines. The Mike Ege engines seem to be down on power from the Ernie Elliot engines. I think if the Petty's switched to Elliot engines they would have more equal power and then could work the kinks out of the cars.

RIP Adam, but Kyle should get out of the harried world of NASCAR, he doesn't have the fire anymore- maybe as a team owner, to replace of Richard.
That said- how is Kyle in Endurance Racing? NASCAR/Grand-Am have a winner driver to lift the GA rolex series if they can get him in a full time DP drive. |

well everyone thinks the frantic pace of 36 races is too much, and with out his son whom he was really working for, kyle should slow down. use his patience and experience to go to sports cars, it is agreat option for most drivers new annd old.
